This role blends technical knowledge, communication, organization, and sales-minded service to ensure every customer interaction is professional, transparent, and value-driven.Role SummaryAs a Service Consultant, you will be the primary point of contact for customers requiring vehicle maintenance or repair. You will listen to customer concerns, prepare accurate repair orders, coordinate with technicians, and guide customers through service recommendations with clarity and integrity. You play a vital role in driving customer satisfaction, retention, shop productivity, and overall service excellence.ResponsibilitiesGreet all customers in a friendly, professional manner—both in person and by phoneActively listen to customer concerns, ask relevant questions, and perform initial walk-around inspectionsClearly explain recommended services, maintenance needs, repair timelines, and costsApply a consultative approach to service sales, emphasizing long-term vehicle health and valueProvide timely updates throughout the repair process and obtain approvals before proceeding with additional workConduct post-service follow-ups to ensure customer satisfaction and address concernsDeliver a consistent "WOW" experience through professionalism, education, and value-added servicesSchedule service appointments using approved intervals to maximize efficiency and shop flowPrepare detailed and accurate repair orders documenting customer concerns, inspections, and technician findingsCollaborate closely with technicians to ensure clear communication and productivity targets are metEnsure vehicle inspections are completed prior to discussing findings and recommendations with customersMonitor work in progress to ensure quality standards are met and comebacks are minimizedMaintain accurate customer and vehicle records in approved systemsPrepare estimates for parts and labour and manage warranty claims when applicableAssist with parts ordering, inventory returns, and warranty documentationArrange customer transportation when requiredDistribute business cards and shop literature to support brand awareness and repeat businessMaintain a clean, organized workspace and uphold professional appearance standardsFollow all safety, environmental, and regulatory guidelines, including hazardous materials proceduresDemonstrate integrity, professionalism, and respect in all interactionsRemain calm and solution-focused in high-pressure or conflict situationsManage multiple tasks accurately while adapting to changing prioritiesAdhere to shop policies, systems, and procedures at all timesParticipate in training and continuous improvement initiativesUphold the shop's code of conduct and contribute positively to team cultureQualifications & Credentials1-2 years of automotive service experience preferred (dealership or service centre experience an asset)Strong understanding of automotive maintenance, repair procedures, and vehicle systemsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational and multitasking abilitiesCustomer-focused mindset with confidence in service recommendations and sales conversationsProficiency with service department software and POS systems (experience with Protractor is an asset)Valid driver's license with a clean driving recordHigh school diploma or equivalent; customer service or office administration training is an assetBondable status preferredBenefitsAt Auto Electric Service Ltd., our people are the key to our success.
