Aecon Utilities is growing to become Canada’s #1 utility construction provider and is seeking a Finance Co‑op Student to support this mission. Reporting to the Manager, Project Accounting, the Finance Co‑op Student will handle daily tasks such as general ledger maintenance, billings, payroll entries, and administrative duties within a 12–18 month placement beginning May 2026 (with possible extension). What You'll Do Here Assist with month‑end close off processes, including journal entries for divisional financial statements, elimination entries, recurring entries, and accruals. Prepare monthly management reports, financial statements, and supporting schedules. Perform monthly inter‑company reconciliations and confirmations with other Aecon divisions. Handle monthly JV billings and associated reconciliations. Analyze accounts and prepare working papers and schedules. Prepare joint‑venture financial statements for JV partners. Conduct reconciliations and variance analysis, ensuring timeliness and accuracy. Reconciling and approving company credit card transactions. Build and maintain Excel reporting models for monthly and quarterly reporting. Assist with preparation of business plans and quarterly forecasts, entering and maintaining data in the accounting system. Participate in interim and year‑end audit and reporting requirements. Assist with year‑end tax worksheets. Assist with client reporting. Document and ensure continuous process improvements within the area of responsibility. Participate in special projects and initiatives as required. Drive an inclusive culture, promoting equity, respecting diverse perspectives, and fostering a sense of belonging. What You Bring To The Team Enrolled in a related post‑secondary education co‑op program, working towards an Accounting/Finance designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA). Demonstrated computer software proficiency with Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills required. Excellent organizational skills to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work with a sense of urgency, shifting priorities to accomplish objectives.
