We are headquartered in Calgary and maintain a satellite office in Houston.What You Would Do in This RoleThe Electrical Lead leads a discipline engineering team in the design of different aspects of energy industry projects from inception to completion. Duties include:Planning, allocating and reviewing work programs. This includes updating ForecastWeb on a weekly basis and ensuring it is suitably completed to align with the demand of the Project/Program Manager. The forecast should be updated to current project plans and changes to work plans/resourcing needs are communicated through change management to project stakeholdersPreparing weekly progress reports for each project including work completed, work planned for the following week and discipline needsUpdating project schedule on a weekly basis including marking tasks which are completed, in progress, and any potential delays. In addition, ensure tasks are listed correctly in schedule. Project schedule along with tracking engineering tasks and deliverables are to be reviewed and maintained in conjunction with Project ManagementEstablishing scopes of work, man-hour estimates, schedules and priorities for projects or proposalsScheduling and expediting department workSupervising an engineering team involved in the conception, planning and development of engineering design, projects, processes, proposals and estimatesProviding leadership and mentorship to project/program discipline engineering team; acting as a focal point for expertise and direction on engineering solutionsProviding guidance in the design and delivery of complex engineering projects within their disciplineGuiding discipline team on project work through to completion in accordance with the schedule and budget on assigned major projects of high technical complexityAssisting in the negotiation of critical engineering issuesAdministering the planning, scheduling, cost control and technical conformance to the designAttending status meetings with clients, project management and suppliersCoordinating activities with other departments and clientsMaintaining current knowledge of industry and regulatory standardsAssigning and reviewing work of discipline engineering staffReviewing vendor or subcontractor quotations, drawings, and specifications for technical adequacy and conformance with project requirementsEnsuring adherence to Vista Quality Management System (QMS)Ensuring design is in accordance with applicable codes and requirements, including Vista and client specifications and standardsApproving discipline deliverablesSupporting development, implementation and maintenance of discipline design standards, checklists and proceduresActively stewarding change management for their discipline activities and impacts to other discipline activitiesSupporting discipline man-hour estimates for proposalsProviding construction supportAuthenticating documentation with a professional engineering stamp as requiredCommunicating with the Department Design Lead for designer resources and manhour estimatesApplying extensive knowledge of energy industry facility related drawing including single line diagrams (SLD), area classifications, electrical layouts, JB wiring diagrams, motor andPreparing and reviewing demand load calculations, voltage drop calculations, cable tray fill calculations, EHT calculations, etc.Preparing or reviewing ETAP or SKM modelsApplying extensive knowledge in CEC and international codes, standards and approved codes of practicePreparing and reviewing material requisitions and technical bid evaluations of electrical equipment such as motors, switchgears, MCC, VFDs, UPS, EHT panels and e-housesPreparing and reviewing electrical engineering work packagesPerforming other duties as requestedRequirementsTen-plus years of progressive experience in electrical engineering and design in the energy industryBachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in engineering or applied scienceAbility to work and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and designers including process, mechanical, civil, structural & architectural, electrical, instrumentation & controls and pipingP.Eng. registration with APEGAProficiency with Microsoft Word and ExcelStrong written and oral communication skillsStrong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detailSelf-motivated and efficient with time managementStrong working knowledge and understanding of applicable codes and industry standardsAbility to meet safety requirements to attend site visitsPreferredTen years of experience in a engineering capacity, ideally with a focus on the energy industry #J-18808-Ljbffr
