This is your chance to make an impact in a department committed to fostering innovation, supporting business growth, and diversifying the economy across the Prairies.As a Purchasing Officer at PrairiesCan, you will:Provide expert advice to managers on procurement, asset and materiel management, and contracting - helping shape key decisions within the department.Guide clients through the creation of procurement documents and development of evaluation criteria, ensuring processes run smoothly and efficiently.Coordinate procurement activities, processing documentation through both automated and manual systems.Negotiate contracts with private sector suppliers, evaluate proposals, and recommend top suppliers to management - playing a crucial role in securing favorable outcomes for the department.Represent PrairiesCan in communications with central agencies, advocating for advantageous terms and resolving procurement challenges.Develop and authorize complex procurement contracts that drive success across our operations. Intent of the process The intent is to staff one term position for 2 year with the high possibility of extension. This process may be used for various tenures (including but not limited to term and indeterminate appointments, internal assignments, secondments, deployments, acting appointments, casual). Experience:Experience providing advice to clients on procedures or policies related to public procurementExperience in preparation of procurement documentation and evaluation criteriaExperience in negotiating contract specifications and requests for proposals to resolve problems with suppliersExperience in data analytics and performance management Applied / assessed at a later date Knowledge:Knowledge of policies, practices and legislation related to the procurement process in the Federal Government.
