Senior Accountant

Partner at Sound CPA (all thoughts are my own) We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant /Accounting Manager to join our dynamic accounting firm (located in Owen Sound). This is a great opportunity for an experienced CPA with at least four years of public practice experience to step into a leadership role with a clear path to becoming a partner within three years. You will be responsible for overseeing client engagements, mentoring junior staff, all while working closely with existing partners to ensure a seamless transition into partnership. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage multiple client engagements, ensuring high-quality service delivery Provide strategic guidance to clients on financial planning, tax strategies, and compliance Develop and nurture client relationships, identifying growth opportunities Supervise and mentor junior team members, fostering professional development Play an integral role in firm operations, contributing to decision-making and long-term strategy Drive business development initiatives to expand the firm’s presence and service offerings Prepare for seamless integration into the firm's leadership structure as a partner Technical Skills Accounting Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of financial reporting, audits, reviews, compilations, and regulatory compliance. Tax Proficiency: Deep understanding of corporate, personal, and estate tax planning and compliance. Financial Advisory: Ability to provide strategic business advice, financial forecasting, budgeting, and risk management solutions. Software & Technology: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero), tax cycle, and Microsoft Office Suite. Leadership & Management Skills Team Leadership: Proven ability to mentor and manage a team, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth. Project Management: Strong organizational skills to oversee multiple client engagements and meet deadlines effectively. Strategic Thinking: Capability to contribute to firm growth and long-term business strategy. Decision-Making: Confidence in making high-level financial and operational decisions. Client Relationship & Business Development Skills Client Engagement: Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and retention.
