Engineering Project Technologist This position works in the Commercial Development organizational unit and involves technical and administrative engineering work performed in the Engineering Department. The incumbent prepares design layouts, detailed drawings, specifications and related data for municipal utilities and monitors construction to ensure compliance with plans and related specifications. Additional duties include estimating project construction costs, preparing specifications and contract documents, consulting and maintaining liaison with internal and external contacts, and overseeing personnel who assist in project implementation. Key responsibilities include: Prepare design layouts, detailed drawings, and specifications for municipal utilities. Monitor construction of utilities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and schedules. Estimate project construction costs and prepare contract documents. Consult and maintain liaison with a wide variety of internal and external contacts. Review and process soil permit applications and issue permits. Process and issue erosion sediment control (ESC), noise variance and soil deposition permits. Qualifications: Diploma in Civil and Structural Technology from an Institute of Technology, supplemented by project management courses. Considerable related experience in the municipal sector or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of municipal engineering design principles and methods, engineering mathematics, standards, and applicable departmental policies, practices, procedures, standards and bylaws. Sound knowledge of budgeting and standard costing procedures. Ability to act as liaison and coordinator for development and capital works projects and to administer the same. Ability to collect, analyze, and synthesize technical, statistical, costing and related data and information. Driver's Licence for the Province of British Columbia and certification or eligibility for Applied Science Technologist within the Province of British Columbia.
