This role is based out of our St. Albert office, Alberta. JBL specializes in a number of construction sectors that includes urban retail complexes, light industrial, hotels, medical facilities, educational institutions, community centres, adaptive re-use and restoration, and sustainable construction projects for Private, Public and First Nation Clients.Johnston Builders is propelled by an exceptional team of construction executives, project managers, superintendents, estimators, field and support staff that adheres to JBL’s core values.We value trust and transparency,We support our team and community,We are confident in taking a calculated risk,We are approachable,We are big picture thinkers.Responsibilities include:Working closely with project team from project award to completion and communicating closely with planning departments and permit authorities.Work with the Preconstruction Team on New Opportunities / RFP’s when available.Coordinating and scheduling design and constructionReporting on Job Cost - monitoring costs and budget to maintain or the estimated marginIssuing subcontracts, purchase orders, change orders, and detailing scope assessments to ensure inclusivenessConducting detailed shop drawing reviews and coordinationConducting project site meetings and distributing minutes promptlyWorking closely with Accounts Payable/Receivable personnel to ensure accurate and timely invoicing, payables, and change ordersWorking closely with the estimator to establish budget controlsEnsuring quality control and quality assurance during the construction durationCollaborating with JBL safety officer to ensure work progresses in accordance with company safety program and OHS regulationsCommunicating with the client on all aspects of the project relating to schedule, work coordination progress billing, and change orders.Ensuring work is conducted in accordance with Johnston Builders Operation Procedures Manual.Ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:To qualify for this role, you’ll need at least 15 years of experience in the construction industry, with at least 10 years of project management experience (minimum of 5 years on larger $25M+ projects) including experience in the pre-construction phase of a project utilizing design build or construction management contracts.A diploma or degree in Construction Engineering or equivalent education/experience is an asset.You must have a clear understanding of the Building Code, and the commercial and light industrial construction industry, with the ability to coordinate and oversee projects in the $20 to $50 million range.As our ideal candidate, you have a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and an eagerness to learn and willingness to mentor other members. You are a motivated self-starter with high attention to detail and accuracy, along with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Advanced verbal and written communication skills, along with effective organizational and time management expertise will ensure success in this role.Computer skills, including the ability to competently operate computerized job-costing, Bluebeam/Adobe Pro, AutoDesk BUILD (ACC), Sharepoint, MS project and Office 365 are required. Most importantly, you will have experience providing unparalleled service to clients and liaising with construction/preconstruction personnel.
