Each year, Good Shepherd Youth Services helps thousands of youths through strength-based programs including personal counseling, life skills training and educational programs.As the Community Resource Centre Youth Support Worker, you will be responsible for assisting clients in housing readiness with a focus on stability support, landlord advocacy skill building, crisis prevention and intervention, supportive counselling, advocacy, social/recreational programming, life skills building (i.e.: cooking, laundry, cleaning, budgeting, etc.), providing referrals to community services and coordinated access, supporting the development of personalized counseling plans and maintaining a caseload.Case management with community youth accessing the Community Resource Centre.Creating, implementing and facilitating group programming.Coordinating and promoting the Community Resource Centre program calendar.Developing community partnerships.Maintaining daily statistics of youth accessing the Community Resource Centre.Displaying and maintaining current and relevant resource materials.Coordinating and overseeing community outings and events.Observe all health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations.What You’ll Bring To Our Team:A post‑secondary education in social services such as Child and Youth Worker or Social Service Worker.Must have some experience working with youth; working in a leadership role; knowledge of and experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness.Knowledge of and experience working in residential treatment for children/youth under the Ministry Guidelines are a plus.Possess a working knowledge of issues related to gender‑based violence, trauma, homelessness, mental health and substance use.Work from a trauma‑informed, anti‑racist, anti‑oppressive and feminist framework.Experience supporting the development of personalized counseling plans and maintaining a caseload is required.A proven ability to work independently, taking initiative and thinking creatively are required.CPR certification or willingness to be certified.Ability to speak French and/or other languages considered an asset.Have a strong understanding of harm reduction principles.Must have excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, good organization skills and ability to prioritize workload.Committed to anti‑racist/anti‑oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd.What We Offer:Be a part of a caring team that supports our local community.Support for continuing education and professional development.Staff recognition programs along with access to self‑care supports and employee/family assistance program (EAP).Positive and encouraging atmosphere.Make a difference and provide hope.Extended health benefits.Salary:$22.49 - $27.10 per hour.Equal Opportunity:Good Shepherd, a ministry of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God, is an equal‑opportunity employer operating within an anti‑racist and anti‑oppression framework.
