Job Title Student, Data Centre (Summer 2026, Fall 2026, Winter 2027) – First Nations, Inuit, or Métis Candidates Employer Sun Life Location Waterloo King office (on‑site). Occasional travel to Brampton Hereford Data Centre may be required. Remote work may be possible based on duties. Eligibility You must be an Indigenous person – First Nation, Métis, or Inuit (Inuk) – and hold a high school diploma or grade 12 equivalent. The Indigenous Student Employment Program includes the following criteria: First Nations: Indigenous grouping in Canada with distinct origin, history, and culture. Métis: Indigenous peoples of mixed First Nations and European ancestry, united by a common origin, history, and culture. Inuit (Inuk): Indigenous peoples inhabiting the northern regions and Arctic coasts of Canada (Inuit Nunangat). Responsibilities Participate in IT hardware life‑cycle management process. Assist in the physical installation of IT equipment in data centre cabinets. Assist in the collection and punching of hard drives as directed. Organize IT hardware for installation or disposition based on IT owner input. Contact and schedule vendor pickup and coordinate onsite resource escorts. Coordinate building security requirements for equipment pickup and drop‑off locations. Contribute to data validation activities of the Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tool. Assist in onboarding UPS devices to the Eaton IT Performance Management tool. Monitor and track assigned tasks against target timelines. Ensure compliance with data‑centre security and access protocols. Assist in maintaining detailed documentation as directed. Qualifications Detail‑oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy. Physical capability to lift up to 30 lb. Working knowledge of IT hardware terms and platforms. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Ability to comprehend complex critical environments and their potential cross‑impacts. Excellent communication skills. Thrives under pressure. Strong time‑management and organizational abilities. Adept at managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines. Self‑motivated and capable of working independently. Robust problem‑solving skills with a focus on process improvement. Quick to learn and adaptable. Open to students with a May 2027 or later graduation date.
