At Optima Living, we feel genuinely honoured to work with our residents and we advocate a person-centered approach where the resident is the focus of all our endeavours.The Recreation Manager is responsible for providing recreation activities to promote physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and cultural needs of our residents.ResponsibilitiesEngage residents through conversation to identify recreation wants, needs, and abilitiesAssessment and research in order to develop recreation planImplement and coordinate programs, including transportationMonitor and support recreation team and/or volunteers in delivery of programsMeasure and evaluate success of program, redesign as neededRecruit, orientate, schedule and monitor volunteersCoordinate church services, entertainment, and special eventsPurchase recreation supplies as needed within the recreation budgetCoordinate transportation schedule and drivers’ schedule for offsite activities, use company vehicle for transportation as neededCoordinate a yearly schedule of special events, lead decorating for special eventsPrepare monthly recreation reports as requiredWrite and publish monthly newsletter and calendar of events, gathering feedback from residentsProvide training for recreation team and/or volunteersOversee the maintenance of recreation equipment and report any concernsDevelop and implement volunteer appreciation programOperate in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety ActOther duties as assigned to support operational requirementsQualifications and ExperienceExperience in a residential care setting is preferredCompletion of Therapeutic Recreation program or a Recreation Therapist degreeRegistered with provincial Therapeutic Recreation association and in good standingValid provincial class 4 driver's license is requiredCompletion of CPR and First Aid is an assetExceptional interpersonal skills with peers, residents, visitors and operational partnersSuperior organizational skills with the ability to handle multi-resident requestsSuperior oral and written communication skillsDemonstrate the ability to prioritize and problem solveConditions of EmploymentClear Drivers AbstractClear Police Information CheckClear Vulnerable Sector Check #J-18808-Ljbffr
