Job Summary The Specialist, Data Services is responsible for the technical administration, maintenance and support of Apotex’s enterprise “Data Services Platform”. This includes but is not limited to technologies and platform for database software and databases, ETL services, data, and integration services, for on-premise, in the Cloud and in external service providers. The activities include but are not limited to - plan and design, build and deploy, support, and administer the Data Services Platform .
Job Responsibilities Database Holds responsibility for the installation, administration, and support of enterprise database software - includes maintenance, installation of patches, software upgrade, performance tuning.
Responsible for the overall database health and uptime monitoring, database related incidents, errors, slowness, connection issues. Including performance tuning, backup and recovery, operations and security incident investigation and remediation, access management, database audit, capacity planning.
Provide level 2 to level 3 support for all enterprise database platform and the databases to meet established KPIs and ensure service level is met, deficiencies are addressed, and improvements are implemented effectively.
Data Services Responsible for Data Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) services, business intelligence, queries and requests for database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
Develop and maintain efficient, well-documented ETL processes for bulk data loads, ongoing data synchronization routines.
Provision and support ETL processes and jobs, conduct data analysis, manage job scheduling.
Support and administer enterprise data hub, data warehouse and data platform technologies. Including data pipelines and data analytic services.
Integration Holds responsibility for the installation, administration and support of enterprise integration platform and the associated software - includes maintenance, installation of patches, software upgrade, performance tuning.
Provide level 2 to level 3 support for enterprise integration platform and technologies to meet established KPIs and ensure service level is met, deficiencies are being addressed, and improvements are implemented effectively.
Monitor, configure, administer integration platform to ensure it is operating efficiently. Availability meets or exceeds SLA or SLO, secure and reliable, for both on-premise and in Cloud services.
Working with the Integration team, to review, improve and optimize the end to end integration design and workflow, and automate and optimize the API deployment and administration processes.
Collaborating with other GIS teams to develop, maintain and champion the adoption of strategy, roadmap, standards for the Data Services Platform.
Provides technical advice and consultation to GIS management, business users and colleagues in the understanding of technology trends, enterprise standards and best practices to ensure optimal performance, operations and cost efficiency, security standards are followed.
Ensures all assigned projects, work tasks, change and service requests are performed in compliance with the established GIS ITSM processes.
Works in a safe manner collaborating as a team member to achieve all outcomes.

Be available for on-call on a 7 by 24 basis.

Job Requirements Education Minimum undergraduate degree in a related field (Business, Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent) in established and accepted universities and colleges. Or combination of academic and equivalent professional experiences in the same areas and practices.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Database
Solid working experiences with the design principles, best practices, industry standards, administration approaches for relational database software (Oracle, MS-SQL) and common open source databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
Solid hands-on experiences in Oracle, SQL database design, administration and, support.
Advanced knowledge and strong hands-on experiences in using Structured Query Language (SQL) and procedural extension language e.g. PL/SQL, SQL/PSM and/or Transact SQL.
Data Services
Strong knowledge and hands-on experiences in using Business Objects ETL, Microsoft SSIS package and understanding of relational and dimensional data modelling.
Possess knowledge and experience in working with enterprise data platform, data analytic services and data hub technologies. Experience with Microsoft Azure DataBricks, Data Factory and Synapse will be a definite asset.
Integration Services Possess knowledge and experience in working with integration platform and technologies for application and data integration services, deployment, and support.
Familiar with the general architecture of API, different types of API services, the structure, delivery, and handling of common APIs.
Working knowledge with one or more of the common API platforms will be an asset (Mulesoft, Azure, Dell/EMC, Informatica).
Experience Possess 5+ years understanding of client-server architecture, storage and compute platforms, Active Directory, Windows, Linux, and Solaris operating systems, VMWARE and other hypervisor technologies.
Minimum 2 years working experience with one or more of public cloud providers (Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP) and familiar with their service offerings. Experience with Azure data analytic service and integration services will be an asset.
Solid understanding of common Incident, Problem and Change Management processes.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Solid experiences and skills in problem solving, troubleshooting.
Superior analytical and decision-making skills, especially in handling critical decisions in alignment with department’s and GIS’ direction and strategy.
Great team player with excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Adaptable, accountable. Analytical and attention to details.
Nice to have Knowledge and experience with DevOps CI/CD methodology, agile development process and Microservices.
Knowledge and experience in development and support of RESTful APIs, web service and applications. Constructing and navigating XML and JSON data structure, SSIS packages.
Experience with one or more of the following software languages and tools: Java, JavaScript, CSS, PHP, Python, Kafka, Ruby, Spring, Jenkins, Ansible, Dockers, Kubernetes.
