Detailed Overview: Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients/clients/residents and families:
Leads the Health Career Access Program (HCAP) implementation within the areas of Fraser Health or Mental Health & Substance Use Services (MH&SUS) sites. Provides expert advice related to the program's mandate, integration of Mental Health & Addictions Support Workers into site operations and assists sites to identify and raise student progress/performance issues as required. Develops tools and mechanisms to measure, monitor and evaluate progress and outcomes of the program within these settings and provides related advice and support to those with operational accountability. Leads program communications and dissemination of information across MH&SUS, serves as a key resource to program queries and issues and works collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders. Provides leadership to roles assigned to support the program within MH&SUS. Supports orientation of HCAP participants.
Responsibilities: Leads and coordinates the Health Career Access Program (HCAP) implementation within the areas of Fraser Health Mental Health & Substance Use Services (MH&SUS) sites and functions as a strategic resource for site clinical teams and Mental Health & Addictions Support Workers, ensuring program objectives are met within these settings.
Provides expert advice related to the program's mandate and the integration of Mental Health & Addictions Support Workers into site operations. Assists site operations to identify and raise progress/performance issues as Mental Health & Addictions Support Workers proceed through orientation, training, and work experience; helps sites communicate areas of concern to Professional Practice and operation leaders as required.
Coordinates activities related to Mental Health & Addictions Support Worker onboarding at the site level by ensuring sites are aware of orientation and training requirements.
Manages a system to track individual Mental Health & Addictions Support Worker practicum/in class training rotations. Ensures sites are informed of the different schedules and that they have the information they need to manage their overall staff rotations; works with sites and other stakeholders to resolve related issues or concerns.
Develops and/or recommends tools and mechanisms to measure, monitor and evaluate progress and identify outcomes of the program within MH&SUS. Provides advice and support to those with operational accountability in the processes, systems, and tools to collect information; monitors outcomes and produces regular reports on the status of various program activities for review and follow up.
Provides leadership to roles/teams that may be assigned to the program within MH&SUS to support staff and students in the efforts to integrate within the sites (e.g., Licensed Practical Nurse Educator).
Manages program communications and dissemination of information MH&SUS and serves as a main point of contact for program queries and issues. Raises concerns as appropriate to necessary stakeholders.
Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with clinical leaders and works in collaboration with a variety of stakeholders including Talent Acquisition & Onboarding, Professional Practice, and Fraser Health MH&SUS site leadership.
Links and networks with other health authorities, participates in provincial and other working groups/committees as required.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Allied Health Science or other relevant clinical discipline. Seven (7) years of recent related clinical experience in a mental health & substance use environment including five (5) years of experience in managing and leading clinical initiatives/programs, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
