As the successful candidate you will demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships with members of the multidisciplinary team; decision making, problem solving, and critical thinking skills using sound judgement; time management and prioritization skills; conflict resolution skills and promotion of a positive teamwork environment while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills through computer, verbal and written means, in a professional and mature manner. Demonstrated ability to successfully establish relationships with both patients and families and engage them in their care. Ability to prioritize work and effectively cope with frequent interruptions, noise, and other nearby distractions. Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills - knowledgeable of Microsoft Office applications and basic typing. Ability to work as a team member and to request and accept direction as required.
