Learn more about the rolePlease note this postion is for a 2-3 month contract termYour main responsibilitiesApply and promote Englobe’s health and safety rulesOverseeing and conducting laboratory tests including but not limited to compressive strength testing of concrete, soil and aggregate gradation (sieve and hydrometer), plasticity tests (Atterberg limits), soil density testing (Proctor), asphalt extraction and A/C content, and calibrating lab and field equipment in accordance with CCIL;Maintaining open lines of communication in the facilitation of information exchange between external Clients, Laboratory Supervisor and Field and Lab Technicians/Technologists;Ensuring maintenance of accurate sample logs for concrete cylinders, asphalt samples, aggregate and soil samples in accordance with CCIL;Recording test data, preparing factual reports, summaries, data sheets or graphs for interpretation of results;Assisting with maintenance of data base of records containing calibration certificates, registration certificates, equipment manuals and applicable standards in accordance with CCIL;Participating in laboratory correlation and accreditation assessment programs (eg. CCIL);Making recommendations to control or eliminate unsafe conditions in the workplace.What makes you uniqueTechnical Diploma in a field related to Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering;Experience in one or all of Soil and Aggregate, Asphalt and Laboratory experience;More than 2 years of experience in highway materials, construction materials sampling and testing and inspection;CSA, CCIL or ACI certification (asset);Ability to handle samples up to 25kg of materials regularly;Demonstrated interest and sensitivity towards occupational health and safety.What makes Englobe uniqueAt Englobe, you'll have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects of every size and scope.
