Job Summary

Job Description What is the opportunity? Remote work available in the following provinces: Quebec, Ontario, New-Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Alberta, Manitoba and Prince Edward Island.

As a Bilingual Disability Claims Specialist, you will adjudicate and manage Group disability claims in a team-oriented, multi-disciplinary, and digital environment. You will be responsible for ensuring claims are adjudicated and paid in accordance with policy and unit procedures, while delivering superior client service. You will be required to apply appropriate risk management strategies which impact the companys financial results, reputation and regulatory risks, client relationships, and business retention.

What will you do? Adjudicate French and English claims by utilizing a multidisciplinary claim management model to ensure objective, fair and thorough claim adjudication, while complying with policy provisions, procedures and regulatory requirements

Provide the highest level of customer service and manage reputational risk

Manage a large caseload of disability claims, calculate benefit payments andimplement claims management and return to work strategies

Render decisions on a timely basis and effectively communicate these decisions, at times potentially difficult decisions and manage escalations with employers and claimants.

Document and implement the appropriate next steps while effectively applying the adjudication process

Build effective relationships with key stakeholders and claimants to support recovery and return to work

Given the very sensitive nature of the information gathered in the adjudication process, extreme care must be exercised in the handling of a claim in order to guard against any breach of confidentiality

Effectively communicate and build rapport with team members, stakeholders and business partners using a variety of techniques and collaboration from claim initiation to resolution

What will you need to succeed? Must-have Post-secondary education, preferably in healthcare or a related field, and minimum 2(two) years of Short Term or Long-Term Disability claims adjudication experience

Bilingualism (English and French) required, as you will regularly serve our clients and do business with RBC partners and/or employees across Canada with English and French speaking needs.

High level of writing in French and English

Strong analytical, critical thinking and decision-making skills, with the ability to multitask and balance multiple goals and priorities

Excellent customer service and telephone skills with the ability to communicate complex and difficult information with professionalism and empathy, including phone calls with client who may be emotional or have mental health conditions

Ability to work independently in a structured environment, as a Remote Office Employee (ROE), working in your home office with proven time management, organizational and problem-solving skills & must be able to meet with the technological and confidentiality requirements of the role (i.e., private, and quiet space, Internet connectivity, etc.)
