This is a key role which will guide the planning and implementation of compassionate tenant relocation services. This role will involve leading projects, managing relationships, coordinating tenant communication plans, and ensuring compliance with applicable relocation policies.Main Areas of FocusTo lead relocation projects while establishing and ensuring best practices in the provision of tenant relocation, including adherence to municipal policies, funder requirements, and the Residential Tenancy Act.Key Position ResponsibilitiesLead tenant relocation projects from planning through execution, ensuring alignment with municipal and Brightside’s relocation policies. Build and maintain relationships with prospective and existing clients (developers, non-profits, municipal staff); and ensure proactive communication. Present recommendations to the Director.Guide the planning and implementation of compassionate tenant interaction and communication strategies.Assess project risks, monitor changes in housing markets, and develop mitigation strategies for any relocation challenges.Analyze potential client engagement using Brightside’s relocation social enterprise matrix as a guide, provide feedback to the Director.Analyze data gathered during initial engagement with new clients and report findings to the Director.Ensure relocation plans adhere to relevant municipal and provincial regulations, including tenant protection policies.Assist in drafting proposals, oversee outreach activities, and identify new consulting opportunities.Oversee the research, data gathering, and report preparation, review deliverables for quality and consistency.Participate in quality improvement of internal systems and templates, to continually develop best practices to enhance service delivery.Lead the development of resident relocation plans, documents and procedures and liaise with municipalities and agencies where providing relocation services.Lead the planning, preparation and presentation of relocation information at resident meetings.Lead the development of advance-planning schedules for each building and facilitate meetings with residents and Brightside staff on resident relocation matters including relocation options, alternatives, rights and responsibilities for residents.Support staff (Resident Relocation Coordinators) to conduct resident relocation activities, coordinate resident move-outs and move-ins, complete housing applications, provide transportation to residents to look at available housing options, and other related duties.Support the Director, CRE and assist with public hearings, as required.Design and deliver presentations on Brightside’s Relocation Services Social Enterprise at conferences, workshops, and to external not-for profit clients.Support the Director in writing proposals, preparing budgets and executing Relocation Services Social Enterprise projects.Liaise with partners, other affordable housing organizations, market-rental landlords, internal staff and community-based agencies, as required.Skills & ExperienceExperience in project development, management, and strategic planning, with the ability to innovate, and measure impact.General office administration, reporting and budgeting.Experience with developing comprehensive plans to achieve both social enterprise and mission driven goals.Experience taking a proactive approach to developing innovative solutions and pursuing opportunitiesBuilding effective relationships with diverse individuals and organizations including not-for-profit housing providers, market housing providers, consultants, government agencies, municipalities, and funders.Having a minimum three to five (3-5) years related housing consulting experience, with a focus on tenant relocation, affordable housing, or related fields.Proven ability to demonstrate patience, tolerance, diplomacy and exercise tact and good judgement when dealing with a variety of individuals of diverse cultural, educational and socio-economic backgrounds and behavioral issues.Having a strong understanding of municipal tenant relocation policies and procedures, and the Provincial Residential Tenancy Branch regulations.Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.Ability to effectively manage competing work priorities, communicate changes in tenant needs, meet complex deadlines and work independently.Ability to effectively use technology including web platforms, computer programs and database systems.Ability to organize, problem solve challenges and deliver excellent customer service.Comfortable working with vulnerable populations and be able to enforce and/or recommend adaptations to policy with a high level of compassion and integrity, while working within and supporting organizational protocols.Ability to lead by example and be an exceptional team player.Additional InformationA bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Public Policy, Community Development, or a related field would be an asset.A successful criminal record check for working with vulnerable children and adults is required for this position.Ability to accept and champion Brightside’s “Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion” and be aligned with this commitment and the Foundation’s core values, with experience integrating these principles into housing or relocation work.Ability to maintain a flexible schedule as some meetings may necessitate occasional scheduling outside regular business hours.A valid BC Driver’s license is required for this position.Brightside is proud to be a certified Living Wage employer. Salary range for this position is $79,000-88,000 per annum. A competitive extended health, dental and vision package is provided to qualified employees upon hiring.This consultant role includes an annual on-call premium of $5,000, recognizing the need for periodic availability beyond standard working hours.
