Working under the supervision of senior staff or the Partner in Charge, the role contributes to design excellence, technical quality, and effective project execution. The role is based fully in‑office to foster direct team collaboration and strong cross‑functional coordination.Key ResponsibilitiesLead or support the successful execution of projects across all design phases, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and project timelinesContribute to the establishment and maintenance of project budgets, schedules, and work plansActively engage in design development, consultant coordination, and client communication throughout the duration of the projectServe as Project Manager or support senior staff in the management of scope, schedule, team deliverables, budgets, and communication, following established firm processesSupport or lead preparation of proposals, fee estimates, and responses to RFPsParticipate in contract review meetings and assist with risk identification and mitigation planningDesign + DocumentationParticipate in and support the creation of conceptual and schematic design ideas with strong graphic and presentation skillsLead or assist with the development of contract drawings and specifications, ensuring compliance with office standards, development bylaws, and applicable building codesCoordinate submission drawings for authority approvals and contribute to tender documentation packagesEnsure technical quality and accuracy in design and construction documentation using Revit and CADSupport quality control efforts and internal design review processesProject Support + CoordinationPrepare and manage project documentation including meeting minutes, transmittals, and authority applicationsMaintain project filing systems to organize related information and correspondenceCoordinate with consultants, internal teams, and municipal authorities throughout the project lifecycleAssist with or manage project scheduling, resource planning, and milestone tracking using project management softwareWorking with Senior staff, assist with or manage RAIC contracts and/or fee proposalsEnsure all work aligns with the firm’s Project Delivery standards, including proper use of filing systems, adherence to architectural procedures, and compliance with drawing and documentation protocolsTeam + CultureFoster a collaborative, open studio environment that promotes creativity, accountability, and continuous learningProvide leadership and mentorship to junior staff, especially during early design phasesAdhere to all company health and safety protocols and support a respectful and inclusive workplaceAble to work in a collaborative, in‑office environment (100% in‑office presence required to support direct team engagement and effective cross‑functional coordination)QualificationsDegree in Architecture or a related design discipline from a recognized post‑secondary institution5–10 years of professional experience in an architectural firmRegistered with or actively pursuing registration with a Canadian architectural association (OAA, AAA, AIBC, etc.)Strong conceptual design skills including freehand sketching, 3D modeling, and graphic presentationProficiency in Revit and AutoCAD required; knowledge of project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Deltek Vantagepoint) is an assetDemonstrated knowledge of local construction systems, detailing, and building codesExperience with local municipal approvals and permitting processesProven experience managing projects with direct client engagement and coordinationDemonstrated ability to manage design fees, including budgeting and monitoring profitabilityExperience in staffing planning, task allocation, and team coordination across project phasesStrong understanding of scope management, scheduling, and budget adherenceLEED® AP, Passive House Designer, or other sustainability accreditations preferredWhy Join Us?At Zeidler, you’ll be part of a nationally respected architectural practice with deep Canadian roots and a legacy of award‑winning work across sectors—from civic landmarks and community spaces to advanced research and workplace environments.We foster a collaborative, inclusive studio culture that values creativity, accountability, and design integrity.
