Join North York General to accelerate your career Position Summary Clinical Coordinator, Paediatric Program : The Clinical Coordinator role is a leadership position within the Maternal Newborn and Paediatric Program, specifically working within Paediatric and NICU areas. The primary focus for this role will be on the patient flow of paediatric and NICU patients by facilitating transfers and coordinating staffing Embracing models of operational and clinical excellence, patient and family driven care, you will work in partnership with the Program leadership teams, other teams across the hospital and external partners (including the Ontario Health, LHIN, Safer Healthcare Now and other healthcare facilities). You will provide leadership in rapidly changing patient situations and is an autonomous professional who works independently and interdependently supporting the health care team. You also have well‑developed interpersonal, critical thinking and problem‑solving skills, are able to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team, are able to effectively prioritize and multi‑task. You have excellent verbal and written communication, teaching skills and project management skills. This position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and / or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families. On a practical level Facilitate optimal bed utilization and patient flow, assisting the inter‑professional teams on Paediatrics and NICU and associated Paediatric clinics with staffing resource coordination. Facilitating the flow and transfer of patients from the Paediatric Clinics, PPSU and Emergency Room to the paediatric unit and neonates from Post partum and Labour and Deliver to the NICU Attending the GTA paediatric and NICU meetings with the CTM for the timely transfer of patients from Tertiary centres Promote excellence in patient care and service delivery, identifying potential risk issues to the Clinical Team Manager. Provide leadership and support for the tracking and management of issues related to unit supplies. Support staff in utilizing critical thinking skills in resolving clinical and administrative issues prior to escalation to Clinical Team Managers. Identify issues across the clinical areas and assist in the development of strategies to resolve such problems; engage in evidence‑based practice and collaborate with relevant inter‑disciplinary team members to initiate changes to improve the quality of patient care, as appropriate. Support Clinical Team Managers to identify and address human resource challenges. Collaborate with Clinical Team Managers to ensure appropriate response to emergency events. Respond to Hospital codes (i.e., code blue, pink, white, code delivery, etc…) as required. Attend and participate in unit‑ and program‑based committees, as required. Attend and participate in program and corporate operational meetings, as required Demonstrated ability to achieve cooperation and coordination of corporate staff members and external stakeholders Demonstrates and role models values consistent with mission, vision and values of the organization Qualifications Possess a valid Certificate of Competence from the college of Nurses of Ontario Baccalaureate in Nursing, Health studies or administration, masters in nursing, an asset 3-5 years of experience in a Paediatric / Neonatal area 3-5 years leadership experience (Charge Nurse) PALS and NRP Certification Required Teaching experience, preferred Well‑developed knowledge of the continuum of Paediatric Services, clinical nursing practice, research methodology, data collection and analysis Demonstrated ability to liaise / communicate with external stakeholders and internal corporate staff members in a professional and courteous manner Excellent written skills to compose abstracts, write proposals and develop poster presentations Committed to ongoing professional development Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with the Clinical Team Manager, Clinical Nurse Educator, Director and Department Chief on unit specific, corporate and external projects Ability to plan, implement and evaluate special care projects Project management experience an asset Excellent leadership skills and the ability to coach, and motivate the health care team Good computer skills (the ability to formulate graphs and tables) Demonstrated abilities related to presentation skills (ability to utilize PowerPoint) Demonstrated ability to achieve cooperation and coordination of corporate staff members and external stakeholders Demonstrates and role models values consistent with mission, vision and values of the organization What We Offer Working at NYGH means working with a dynamic team of fellow healthcare providers, staff, and volunteers in one of Canada’s leading hospitals.
