Cystic Fibrosis Canada has dramatically changed the cystic fibrosis story, advancing research and care that has more than doubled life expectancy. Since being founded by parents in 1960, Cystic Fibrosis Canada has grown into a leading organization with a central role engaging people living with cystic fibrosis, parents and caregivers, volunteers, researchers and healthcare professionals, government and donors, all working together to change lives through treatments, research, information and support. Despite remarkable progress, the fight is not yet done; children with cystic fibrosis still have only a 50% chance of living beyond their 50s. THE ROLE AND IMPACT:

The

Bilingual Program Lead- Healthcare and Community Relations , is responsible for supporting the execution of Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Canada’s strategic direction specific to healthcare and advocacy, including managing Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s helpline for community information and support. This role works with internal and external stakeholders to improve the lives and livelihoods of Canadians who live with CF, supporting them in accessing healthcare grounded in evidence based best practices, in getting the medicines and supports they need, bringing people and knowledge together, and leading projects identified within the healthcare and advocacy portfolios. Special focus to be placed on supporting underserved communities such as the Quebec region, with service in French and English required.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH:

Healthcare program

Assist in the development and implementation of Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s healthcare strategic plan and program, including the planning and delivery of all healthcare program components activities and deliverables. Lead the project management of strategic projects including the development of national standards of care, health and human resource guidelines, burden of disease project, mental health strategies, etc. Support clinician engagement through co-leading various discipline working groups (e.g. nursing, physiotherapy, etc.) and other meetings. Lead community/stakeholder engagement efforts (e.g. engaging with patients, families /caregivers, CF medical community) Assist with the standards and guidelines portfolio by leading various aspects of project management. Assist in developing program reports, patient/caregiver resources, and clinician resources related to the healthcare portfolio. Manage healthcare inbox and work with internal and external stakeholders to respond to inquiries. Provide logistical support for various stakeholder meetings and events.

Information and support program

Manage Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s Helpline inbox and respond (in a timely manner) with empathy and warmth to requests from people living with cystic fibrosis and their caregivers.

Advocacy Assist in the development and implementation of Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s government relations and advocacy programs. Plan and deliver volunteer and community engagement initiatives, peer-to-peer exchanges, webinars and community briefings. Grow, develop, and steward members of the National Advocacy Network (NAN), with a specific emphasis on building volunteer capacity and engagement in Quebec. Oversee the NAN Facebook Group and work with the Director, Government and Community Relations and members of the Marketing and Communications team to provide social media and newsletter content and to develop a forward-looking advocacy-related content calendar. Manage advocacy inbox and work with internal and external stakeholders to respond to inquiries. Leverage relationships with NAN and community members and include their stories in our blog, newsletter, social media and web content. Provide logistics support for lobbying days at Parliament and provincial/territorial legislatures. Assist in the development of government briefing kits, submissions and other communications. and help track federal, provincial and territorial government engagement and consultation opportunities. Assist in tracking government meetings in accordance with federal, provincial and territorial lobbyist registration requirements, where required.

WHAT YOU BRING:

University undergraduate degree in Health/Life Sciences, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, Public Administration, or related field (Essential) Over 4 years experience in community engagement with knowledge of stakeholder engagement best practices (with a preferred focus on working with medical community and patients with chronic or rare diseases) (Essential) Knowledge of adult learning and facilitation techniques (Essential) Knowledge of Canadian or provincial healthcare and/or hospital systems (preferred) Demonstrated success in effectively communicate advocacy initiatives and outcomes in ways that inspire and engage community members (preferred) Demonstrated experience in training and supporting volunteers and staff in the charitable sector (preferred) Experience working with underserved populations (preferred) Over 3 years experience with project coordination/management tools and processes, Professional Management Professional PMP (preferred) Experience managing multiple projects within the healthcare field and providing project management support to senior team leaders (Essential) Demonstrated understanding of clinical guidelines/quality standards development and implementation process (preferred) Experience in performing basic qualitative and quantitative data analyses (e.g. surveys/focus group results) (Essential) Ability to work within a matrix team structure (Essential) Excellent communicator with outstanding written and verbal communication skills (French and English) (Essential) Excellent relationship building, customer service and problem-solving skills (Essential) Bilingual/French speaking (Essential)
