To finish your application we will email you further details. Building Surveyor - Residential Inspections We're looking for a Building Surveyor to join our residential Inspections team. This is a technical role where you'll assess and process building consent applications under the Building Act 2004 — from solid fuel heaters to complex multi-storey residential builds. About the Role As a member of the Residential Building Team, you'll be responsible for reviewing and inspecting residential building consents across the district, ensuring compliance with legislation and supporting safe building outcomes for our community. Key aspects of the role include: Processing a wide range of residential building consents Providing advice and expertise on Building Act matters to applicants and internal teams Communicating with agents, architects, licensed building practitioners, and applicants — often under pressure — to solve problems and provide clear guidance Supporting an integrated approach to customer service by collaborating with other departments (e.g., planning, property, plumbing, and drainage) Maintaining competency through technical audits and our biannual competency framework Staying up to date with legislative changes and adapting to new systems and processes This is a highly autonomous role, but you'll be part of a supportive and collaborative team where help is always available, and your contribution is valued. About You Our ideal candidate is calm, honest, and approachable, with relevant BCA or TA experience that enables you to hit the ground running. You're detail-oriented but able to see the big picture, and you bring a natural problem-solving mindset to your work.
