Rail Systems Integration Engineer

OverviewHDR is looking for a Rail Systems Integration Engineer to join our Toronto office. Reporting to the Section Lead Systems, Operations and Maintenance, you will be part of the North America Rail and Transit Systems Team, working with project managers and engineering disciplines on projects in Canada and the US. The role emphasizes Systems Integration principles such as requirements management and interface management, with a holistic systems perspective across multiple engineering disciplines. As an engineer with growing experience in rail and transit, you will proactively lead in undertaking systems integration processes and work closely with the Systems Integration Lead to improve those processes. This position is suited for an engineer with a broad view across civil, architecture, track, and rail systems rather than a specialization in a single discipline. Primary Responsibilities Support in the development of Systems Integration processes and apply them to a variety of multi-disciplinary projects. Facilitate and develop interfaces, requirements, and concepts. Assist with technical reviews of designs, plans, specifications, construction submittals, testing and commissioning documents. Collaborate with the wider Systems Engineering team, including Systems Assurance, RAMS, and Operations & Maintenance. Support the development and execution of Verification and Validation (V&V) processes. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of professional experience, including transit or transportation project exposure. Experience with systems integration principles such as interface management and requirements management; familiarity with DOORS NG and ISO 15288 is an asset. Experience working on large, multi-disciplinary projects. Self-starter with the ability to work independently and lead initiatives. Adaptable to different project environments with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Highly creative problem-solver with a broad, cross-disciplinary perspective. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree. Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., PE or P.Eng). Hands-on experience with MicroStation, OpenRail Designer, AutoCAD and Civil3D. Ability to work both independently and in a team setting. MS Office software proficiency.
