Development Services Project Supervisor

If you're looking for a career with Hyatt Regency Vancouver, this is an exciting opportunity to join our Event Services team as Regular Supervisor (Captain). This position requires a dedicated, hardworking, customer service-focused individual who is available to work various shifts including weekends and holidays.
The Event Services Supervisor is responsible for making the function space visually appealing and presenting the menu offering for the event. This includes linen and table setting, food station design, and beverage service. Other duties include oversight of general banquet preparation, room refreshes, and maintaining a sanitary environment. This person may assist in scheduling required staff for banquet functions.
Other responsibilities include:
- Ability to run banquet functions from start to finish
- Coordinate with other departments (Culinary, Events, Stewarding, Sales, Outlets, and Rooms) regarding functions
- Supervise and direct Event Services Servers and Convention Services Associates
- Conduct pre and post inspections of event rooms
- Prepare requisitions, bills, maintenance reports, closing shift, and payroll
- Conduct pre-service meetings and check-in conversations with associates
- Prepare and plan resetting the event space accordingly
- Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures
- Provide guidance to Event Services associates on the floor
- Achieve high scores in overall event phase satisfaction
Salary Range: $29 - $32 per hour.
Qualifications:
- A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment
- At least 2 years' experience in the food and beverage industry, preferably with experience in Events/Banquets
- Proven ability to manage associates
- Availability and flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays (morning, afternoon, and evening)
- Experience in a unionized environment considered an asset
- Must have Serving it Right certificate
- Must have Food Safe certificate
- Previous customer service experience
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize different tasks
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, train, and motivate a diverse group of individuals
- Ability to make logical decisions
- Professional communication skills with all levels of the organization
- Good computer skills
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying a moderate amount of weight
- Occasional kneeling and bending
- Occasional ascending or descending stairs and ramps
Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
