The Canadian Public Accountability Board oversees public accounting firms that audit reporting issuers. We are looking for a Communications Leader to join our team

The Communications Leader plays a strategic role in developing external and internal communications programs including regulatory communications and disclosures, external presentations, media relations, and employee communications. As a member of the leadership team reporting to the Vice President, External Outreach, you are a subject matter expert in communications best practices and an advisor to the Chief Executive Officer. Naturally curious and adaptable, you are an early adopter and a champion of new areas in your field of expertise, and a strategic leader who inspires colleagues to achieve their very best.

Position summary

In your role you will lead all external communication initiatives, advise CPAB’s senior leadership, and anticipate and expertly handle current and emerging issues that affect the organization’s reputation. Creating and distributing meaningful and impactful content to a sophisticated audience, including business leaders and decision makers, is key to success in this role.

Skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in English, communications, journalism, or public relations.
  • 15+ years of communications leadership experience and a proven record of developing and executing comprehensive communications strategies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Extensive experience with content development and editing technical copy and managing the production process for publications.
  • Experience in a regulatory environment and strong understanding of regulatory voice is highly desirable.
  • Experienced as communications lead for issue management and organizational crises.
  • Background in boardroom communications.
  • Government relations or public affairs experience is considered an asset.
  • Ability to operate in French would be an asset.
