About the Role
 This role is best suited to an individual that is motivated, organized, adaptable, and takes initiative. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide administrative support to their new corporate/commercial department. The position can be located in either their Victoria or Vancouver offices.

Responsibilities
  • Handle routine corporate maintenance for various corporate minute books. Prepare, draft, and review correspondence and legal documents (precedents, basic to complex corporate commercial and other corporate transactions) as well as revising any ancillary documents for larger transactions.
  • Prepare documents with respect to organization of partnerships, incorporation of provincial and federal corporations, extra-provincial registration, business registrations, change of name registrations.
  • Track time entries. Communicate with clients directly.
  • Work closely with other legal administrative assistants, paralegals, lawyers, and clients on file progress.
  • Use law firm accounting software (currently PC Law) Perform due diligence review, analyze, update, and maintain corporate minute books and records and ability to identify deficiencies.
What you Bring
  • 5+ years of corporate paralegal, or equivalent, experience Legal Administrative Assistant Certifications and/or Paralegal Certification or equivalent experience Familiar with how agreements are structured with schedules and appendices.
  • Familiar with Ontario/BC Registries and Online Services (formerly BC Online), NWTPA, Societies Online
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Additional qualifications that would be an asset Familiar with working for First Nations owned/controlled businesses.
  • Experience with Microsoft Styles and Formatting.
  • Experience with iManage. Previous work in Corporate/commercial law
  • Working knowledge of laws/ legislation relevant to practice area such as the Ontario/BC Societies Act (BCSA); Ontario/British Columbia Partnership Act (BCPA); Ontario/BC Business Corporations Act (BCBCA); Canada Business Corporations Act (CBCA); Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act (CNFPCA); Income Tax Act (Canada); and the Indian Act (Canada).
  • Familiar (or willingness to learn about) CCC Companies, Benefit Companies and Federal Incorporation under CNFPCA and CBCA.
