Emergency Communications Officer (ECO) Emergency Health Services (EHS) is seeking an Emergency Communications Officer in Calgary through the Casual Recruit Training Class program. The role requires strong communication skills, a calm demeanor under pressure, and the ability to efficiently transcribe and dispatch emergency calls. Responsibilities Provide safe and effective emergency medical call taking and dispatch services to ambulances. Evaluate and process emergency and non‑emergency calls according to established guidelines. Make key dispatch decisions and contribute to the EMS dispatch process and strategies. Prioritize tasks on the fly, transcribe calls accurately, and relay essential information to emergency crews. Participate in a multi‑step screening process: online prioritization assessment, listening and typing accuracy test, and a job interview. Complete paid on‑the‑job classroom training, followed by buddy shifts before working independently. Required Qualifications Completion of Grade 12 (or equivalent). Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification required; certification course provided upon hire if not already held. Current CPR/BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required before start of training. Preferred Qualifications Additional relevant experience and certifications as applicable.
