Cenovus Energy is currently recruiting a Mechanical Engineering student to join the Operations Readiness and Assurance Team for the Fall academic term.
Operational Readiness and Assurance is the process by which the various activities required to be completed to ensure that the facilities are safe and ready for start-up are identified, resourced and implemented in a planned and timely manner. Over 200 high level activities, spanning all elements of Cenovus’ Operational Integrity Management System have been identified, many of these contain several sub activities. The ORA team currently includes members from operations, HSE, engineering, maintenance and integrity.

What You’ll Do- Assist in creating and modifying operation documents such as Management of Change procedure, Flow Systems Application, Document Control procedures, etc
- Assist in tracking operational readiness activities through to closure
- Assist in developing the SAP equipment structure, BOM connections, etc
- Assist in developing the Master Tag Register
- Support continuous improvement of the Integrity Management Program
- Assist with receiving project engineering deliverables including vendor documents and engineering registers
- Assist with scoping and soliciting proposals for brown field modification investigations
- Assist with completing interface coordination actions assist with completing risk identification actions
- Legally entitled to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa).
- Available to begin work in September 2024.
- Ability to work with multiple engineering disciplines
- Ability to work with other managing departments (operations, maintenance, etc).
- Ability to learn new processes and procedures
- Ability to learn new standards and regulations
- Strong technical skills (MS Excel)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
- Critical thinker in a fast-paced, hard-working, team environment
- Innovative, with a strong desire to learn and the ability to encourage new ways of looking at problems, processes or solutions
Must be enrolled in a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Program Undergraduate Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term. Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered. New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.
