Salary CAD $42.27 - $52.81 per hour Job Summary Join our team as a Clinical Addictions Counsellor If you are passionate about making a meaningful impact in mental health and substance use services, we’re looking for dedicated professionals to join our dynamic team as a Clinician for Community Mental Health. What We're Looking For Master’s Degree in Social Sciences. At least 3 years of recent counselling experience, including facilitating psycho‑educational groups or group therapy for clients with addictions and/or concurrent disorders. Detailed Overview Provides assessments, brief interventions and referral services for youth and adults with problematic substance use and/or addictions. Works in collaboration with community stakeholders to increase awareness around these issues and offers daytox program services to clients and their families. Responsibilities Provides clinically relevant assessment, relationship building, counselling, treatment goal setting, after‑care and relapse‑prevention planning, conflict resolution, and referral services for individuals, families and groups. Assesses client needs and consults with clients and others such as families, physicians, and referral sources to develop a comprehensive treatment plan. Motivates and assists clients in developing and reaching treatment goals. Facilitates daytox program modules to enhance relapse‑prevention skills and recovery efforts. Documents and reports cases for clinical and administrative case management. Contributes to team building, program and policy development by participating in regular team meetings and peer‑review processes. Facilitates client utilization of community services and rehabilitative programs. Provides community education and/or consultation to other agencies. Initiates and participates in individual professional development; maintains current knowledge of addiction, dual diagnosis, and men’s and family issues. Participates in agency, inter‑agency, and inter‑ministerial committees as required. Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications Master’s Degree in Social Sciences. Three (3) years of recent, related counselling experience, including facilitating psycho‑educational groups or group therapy and working with clients who have addictions and/or concurrent disorders. Valid Class V British Columbia driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle for business‑related purposes. Skills and Abilities Ability to identify own experiences and values in relation to the counselling role. Ability to conduct self‑professionally while respecting the client’s right to self‑determination. Ability to establish rapport and carry out required clinical functions relating to assessment, treatment‑plan development and implementation. Ability to work independently, develop and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of individuals, interest groups, related service providers, and contribute as a team member. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to problem‑solve, demonstrating flexibility and assertiveness in dealing with complex issues. Ability to operate related equipment using a variety of software applications. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
