Elliot Lake, Canada THRIVE Child Development Centre Full time

About THRIVE At THRIVE Child Development Centre / THRIVE Centre de développement de l’enfant, we believe in supporting each child and family to reach beyond what is expected toward the extraordinary. We’re a non‑profit Children’s Treatment Centre in Northeastern Ontario that provides family‑centered, strength‑based care. THRIVE is proud to offer an inclusive, educational, and developmentally appropriate Entry to School Program. This program supports families with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) who are between the ages of 3 to 6 entering school for the first time. In this program, we support our clients to further develop their skills in the following areas: communication, play, social interaction, functional routines, behavioural self‑management, and pre‑academics, learning and attention. In addition, our clients, caregivers and school staff are supported during the transition, through consultation services. About the Opportunity We’re looking for a Classroom Facilitator to join our fun, compassionate, and collaborative Entry to School Program (ETS) team This 1‑year opportunity (January 2026 – December 2026) with the possibility of extension, will be based out of our Elliot Lake office. This position will help prepare children with ASD to thrive in school through play‑based learning, developmental skill‑building, and lots of creativity. Our hours are Monday thru Friday and staff work 37.5 hours a week. What You’ll Do Create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive classroom where every child feels seen, supported, and celebrated. Lead activities like storytelling, singing, play‑based learning, and skill‑building in small groups. Collaborate with a passionate team of educators, clinicians, and families to support each child’s goals. Follow the guidelines of the Entry to School Program and work directly with Classroom Facilitator Lead. Work closely with the Classroom Facilitator Leads to collect and organize data about how children are meeting their goals. You’ll help with daily notes, simple graphs, and progress summaries that show how each child is thriving in the program. Support the clinical team by keeping records neat, organized, and up to date. Be part of a multidisciplinary team that includes Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Infant and Child Development Consultants, and Supervised Instructor Therapists (ABA Therapists), and other amazing disciplines. Together, we collaborate to ensure holistic, coordinated, and strengths‑based care for every child and family we serve. What You Bring A post‑secondary diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education, Child & Youth Work, Autism & Behavioural Science, Psychology, or a related field. Experience working or volunteering with children with ASD (6 months to 1 year preferred). A natural ability to plan fun, meaningful activities that meet each child where they are and help them shine. Knowledge of behaviour management and self‑regulation strategies, and the ability to stay calm and positive when things get busy or challenging. A strong sense of professionalism and confidentiality (you handle sensitive information with care and integrity). The ability to work well on a team, sharing ideas, laughter, and creativity, while also being confident working independently. Strong communication skills and a kind, respectful approach when connecting with children, families, and community partners.
