Project Engineer/Mechanical Engineer

Project Engineer/Mechanical Engineer (7 – 12 years’ experience).
This is a dual-purpose role where the candidate must be able to function as a technically solid Mechanical Engineer, as well as, a Project Engineer.
Acero is focused on facility and pipeline engineering, procurement and construction management services; from concept evaluation to plant start-up. Our core service offering is in-house project management, process, mechanical, electrical I&C engineering, project engineering, procurement, regulatory services and construction management.
Responsibilities: Prepare mechanical data sheets for mechanical equipment & packages in accordance with the project specifications Have a strong aptitude for piping and/or pipeline and equipment specifications Have a solid understanding of P&IDs, isometrics, line lists and similar deliverables Daily usage of codes, standards and specifications pertaining to oil and gas industry equipment, vessels, pipe, etc. This includes, but is not limited to: ASME, ANSI, CSA, API. Produce and review documents, design reports, design calculations and drawings in accordance with engineering quality standards and client requirements Review the technical data sheets for oil and gas equipment packages; technical selection, calculation, sizing and evaluation of packaged equipment Participate in client/vendor/contractor meetings including HAZOP’s, model reviews and design reviews Assist with mechanical bid evaluations for equipment (RFP purchase) Create and maintain project schedules, engineering manhour estimates, and cost estimates Request vendor information, compile and distribute RFQs, evaluate quotes, and recommend purchase awards Assist with the preparation and review of scope documents, reports, DBMs, PEPs, project kickoff documentation, RFQs, etc. Assemble construction work packages with an awareness and attention to what should be contained in the binder Understand regulatory codes and the implication on Acero’s design (eg. spacing) Understand and participate in squad checks Other tasks/responsibilities, as required
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering Minimum 7 years of experience in midstream, conventional oil and/or natural gas facilities/processing; having functioned as a “Mechanical” Engineer and/or a “Project” Engineer Professional Engineer status (P.Eng.) in Alberta Strong understanding of mechanical engineering design principles and design codes such as ASME, CSA, API, TEMA, ASTM, NACE Strong understanding of piping and equipment specifications is a “must have” attribute Understanding of various equipment used in oil & gas such as vessels, tanks, heat exchangers & coolers, heaters, rotating equipment (pumps and compressors), packaged equipment, valves & specialty items Understanding of material selection and welding Knowledge of fabrication and construction techniques and processes Ability to write clear, technical reports Highly organized with the ability to work within tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities Excellent interpersonal and communication skills A desire to be a team player and contributor in a dynamic, quality-focused organization Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills Ability to utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
