Join to apply for the Compensation Consultant role at IWK Health Job Summary Reporting to the Manager, Total Compensation, the Compensation Consultant is a member of the People & Organization Development Team. The consultant is responsible for salary administration, supports classification evaluation for unionized and non‑union positions, participates in union compensation strategies, and maintains accurate compensation data and job descriptions. Responsibilities Facilitate the evaluation of new unionized positions across the IWK; determine and recommend classification placements within all four bargaining units. Facilitate the evaluation of unionized positions being appealed and determine whether a reclassification is warranted. Collaborate on developing new management and non‑union positions and facilitate the evaluation process. Reevaluate existing management and non‑union positions and address related disputes. Communicate evaluation results and address appeals. Coordinate and support corporate compensation programs and activities (framework, increments, step placements, market adjustments). Maintain and update position descriptions and assist recruitment in determining appropriate posting criteria. Develop and maintain processes and guidelines for compensation program administration, ensuring compliance with collective agreements, employment guides, and legislation. Develop tools for the department (standard reports, tracking databases, templates, training manuals, etc.). Coordinate salary plan adjustments with organizational management (scales, retroactive payments, etc.). Support compensation‑related grievances (e.g., witness on arbitrations). Support collective bargaining by providing compensation data and costing analysis. Ensure consistent translation of IWK culture, mission, values, policy, and leadership expectations within the programs and services. Qualifications Graduate of a post‑secondary degree and/or Certificate Program in Human Resources (or equivalent). Minimum 5 years related compensation and/or human resources experience within a unionized environment. Certified Compensation Professional (CPP) designation is considered an asset. Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or other relevant professional certification preferred. Membership in local and/or Human Resources Associations preferred. Extensive knowledge of job evaluation systems, compensation trends, and related issues. Up‑to‑date knowledge of labour trends and legislation. Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and relationship‑building skills. Strong verbal and written communication, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills. Excellent consultative, influencing, and mentoring skills. Effective work practices: accountable, dependable, flexible, persevering, results‑oriented. Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision‑making skills. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and HRIS (preferably SAP). Hours & Work Environment Monday to Friday, 75 hours biweekly. This is primarily a remote position with occasional on‑site work. Other Information Union Status: Non‑union. Employment Type: Permanent Hourly FT (100% FTE). Start Date: ASAP. Compensation: $40.9539 – $51.1923 per hour.
