Treaty Reinsurance Underwriter

We have the following job opportunity in our Toronto, Ontario office:

Description

The Treaty Reinsurance Underwriter will support the underwriting function in Toronto and will be responsible for the Canadian portfolio. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  1. Reviewing renewal and new business treaty reinsurance programs including pricing & wording evaluation to determine suitability for TransRe’s portfolio for all lines of business.
  2. Negotiating agreement terms, conditions and contract terms.
  3. Conducting underwriting audits as required for both current and potential clients.
  4. Managing broker/client relationships through marketing & travel.
  5. Handling portfolio management through reporting, account management and budgeting.
Requirements
  1. 10+ years of experience in multi-line underwriting in the (re)insurance industry.
  2. Experience in multiple lines & property catastrophe knowledge is preferred.
  3. Proven track record of strong client management and communication skills.
  4. Proven track record of growing a book of business in the (re)insurance industry.
  5. Ability to collaborate with interdepartmental stakeholders especially claims, accounting and actuarial.
  6. Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Work Schedule

TransRe is supportive of an agile work schedule, which may differ based on individual roles, your local office’s practices and preferences marketplace trends, and TransRe’s business objectives. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in the office per week, and 2 days remote.
