Psychologist - Regular full time (100%) Nature of the Work The position of psychologist encompasses responsibility for prevention and screening activities, providing assistance and guidance to students experiencing social maladjustments or learning difficulties, evaluating psychological and mental functioning, and determining an individualized education plan to foster psychological health and restore mental well‑being, in collaboration with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Characteristic Functions Participates in developing and implementing a psychological service that meets the academic and administrative requirements of both the educational institutions and the school board. Contributes to screening and identification of students experiencing problems, using a prevention‑and‑intervention approach; plans and conducts evaluations of students’ psychological and mental functioning, including those with handicaps, social maladjustments, or diagnosed mental/neuropsychological disorders; selects and uses recognized standardized psychometric tools, conducts interviews, observes, analyzes data, and determines a psychological intervention plan within an individualized education plan. Works with a multidisciplinary team to draw up and review a student’s individualized education plan, including the psychologist’s action plan, and participates in defining intervention objectives and means; coordinates interventions with other team members and assesses achievement of objectives. Assists teachers in determining the nature of a problem, provides advice and support in their educational process, suggests solutions to improve student success, and plans, organizes, and conducts training activities. Works with students, student groups, or parents to identify difficulties, supports them in exploring solutions, and recommends resources as needed. Advises management staff, prepares expertise, evaluation, briefing and progress reports, and formulates appropriate recommendations to support decision‑making. Provides advice and support to school resources regarding the integration of students into regular classes and proposes appropriate intervention means or activities for a student or a group of students. May be called upon to defuse crisis or emergency situations and propose solutions. Develops and maintains relations with representatives of partner organizations, the health and social services network, and school boards. Prepares and updates files according to professional standards and school‑board rules; writes progress notes or reports and end‑of‑process and follow‑up reports on interventions. Required Qualifications Must be a member of the Ordre des psychologues du Québec. Working Conditions Position governed by the collective agreement between CPNCA and FPPE. Travel required across the school‑board territory; a personal vehicle and a valid driver’s licence are necessary. Start date: August 22, 2022. Salary $27.50 to $51.84 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Premium to psychologists: 6.6%–9.5% of hours worked.
