JOB DESCRIPTION

At Stella’s Place, evaluation and research allows us to demonstrate our impact, validate and optimize our work, and advance knowledge that can improve the lives of young adults. As the Evaluation and Research Director you will implement, maintain, and cultivate our evaluation and research strategy.

Your strong capacity for organization and dedication to accountability are fundamental to our ongoing evaluation activities. Curiosity and passion for making a difference will fuel the evolution of our strategic research and evaluation plan. Your breadth of skills and experience along with your zealous work ethic combine to fulfill a role rich in diverse challenges. You work well with others from all departments, including clinical and peer teams, development, operations / back office support, community / education initiatives, vendors, government / government agencies and external healthcare partners.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ongoing Evaluation Stewardship
  2. Oversee data collection, planning and management
  3. Ensure compliance with Canada’s PHIPA (2021) Act
  4. Ensure all materials reflect a dedication to equity, diversity, and inclusion
  5. Apply for, and maintain approval from, accredited Tri-Council REB
  6. Liaise with Client Record Management vendor (TREAT)
  7. Engage with program staff and participants to align evaluation with practice
  8. Develop research programs for ongoing and new initiatives
  9. Measurement

Community Engagement

  1. Manage and foster professional development of department staff
  2. Support hiring process for new department staff
  3. Support onboarding and training for new department staff
  4. Complete development and performance reviews for department staff
  5. Attend and contribute to leadership process, progress, and strategic meetings
  6. Develop and nourish university partnerships toward knowledge mobilization
  7. Engage with collegial leaders to impact system improvement

Deliverables

  1. Analyze, interpret, and report data for an Annual Evaluation Report
  2. Prepare and deliver presentations for myriad stakeholders
  3. Develop & maintain Strategic Plan (including staff roles and responsibilities)
  4. Help develop communication strategy to optimize evaluation findings
  5. Develop and implement strategy for research-related grant acquisition
  6. Develop program logic model & theory of change

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  1. Master’s or Ph.D. in relevant field
  2. Experience across breadth of the role responsibilities listed
  3. Excellent knowledge of data analytic software (e.g., R, SPSS)
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  5. Proficient in Google Workspaces and Microsoft Office Suite (esp. Excel)
  6. Speak and write fluent English
  7. Capacity to work independently with confidence
  8. Capacity to manage competing responsibilities under pressure
  9. Ability to understand how details are situated in larger contexts
  10. Capacity to be flexible to shifting demands
  • Strong emotional intelligence and ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations
  • Knowledge of & experience in Ontario health care trends & design (i.e. funding methodologies, OHTs, health system transformation, integration, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of Ontario’s mental health landscape across sectors (acute care, community, private practice, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience working with frontline staff, strategy & business colleagues, reporting agencies, and vendors
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing government based or research grant or funding applications
  • Strong comfort in advising on appropriate and measurable metrics and associated data reporting, making data and information easy to understand, especially to funders
  • Comfort speaking directly with service users, people with identified mental health lived experience, or caregivers
  • Demonstrated training and experience in survey design and analytics methodology
  • Comfort in working with datasets of various sizes and working with frontline and research staff on data clearing initiatives
  • Strong leadership skills demonstrated both by supporting colleagues within the organization as well as influencing and collaborating with external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated mentorship skills
  • Comfort chairing meetings or Committees of various sizes

SALARY & BENEFITS:

Stella’s Place offers a competitive annual salary and a generous health and vacation package; including comprehensive medical, dental and vision health benefits, 3-week vacation and 15 health days annually, prorated to service. Vacation increases after one year of service.

SALARY - $115,000

HOURS & REPORTING:

Regular communication, coaching, professional development, and evaluation will take place with the Executive Director on a regular basis. This is a full time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Weekend and evening work may be required occasionally.
