OverviewSenior Geotechnical Engineer role at Tetra Tech in Edmonton, AB. Join to apply for the Senior Geotechnical Engineer position with the Arctic Engineering team.ResponsibilitiesDevelop technical solutions to assist in the design and evaluation of challenging geotechnical applications, with a focus on permafrost environments and soil mechanics.Prepare technical letters and reports and participate in proposal development.Supervise and mentor junior staff members.Plan resources, schedules, and manage projects to be on budget and on time.Communicate with coworkers, clients, and sub-consultants.Collect and analyze geotechnical and permafrost information.Review reports prepared by junior staff and prepare geotechnical evaluation reports including recommendations and site development in permafrost environments.Participate in the design of civil earthwork structures and development of construction specifications.Plan and supervise geotechnical investigations.Evaluate geologic conditions and geotechnical characteristics for assessment and design of shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures and earth structures.Conduct and review slope stability and embankment assessments and complete associated designs.Reclamation earthworks design.Operate in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.Work safely at all times and report health and safety incidents and concerns.Additional duties as required.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in civil or geological engineering; master’s degree in geotechnical engineering preferred.Minimum 12 years of relevant geotechnical engineering and foundation design experience.Arctic engineering and permafrost engineering experience is preferred but not required; essential experience in geotechnical reconnaissance and site characterization.Proven ability to plan and supervise geotechnical investigations and to write reports and technical communications.Strong all-round knowledge of geotechnical engineering and expertise in foundation engineering.Experience with site reconnaissance and investigations to assess suitability for infrastructure development.Experience with engineering design software is advantageous (e.g., Plaxis, LPILE, GRLWEAP, DYNA, FLAC, Settle3D).Experience with GeoStudio 2007 products and MS Office required.Experience or aptitude for proposal writing, client development, and team collaboration to meet timelines.Excellent communication skills (oral and written).Willingness to travel within Western Canada for short field assignments up to about one week.Strong people skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.Previous experience leading, mentoring, and coaching team members.Registered Professional Engineer in western or northern Canada.Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and possess a valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent).Life at Tetra TechComprehensive and market-competitive benefits, available on day one of employment.Overtime compensated at 1.5x.Hybrid work culture and tools to work from almost anywhere.Flexibility and commitment to work-life balance.Collaborative team environment that values contributions from all employees.Learning and development opportunities for ongoing professional growth.Mentorship with world-leading experts in the field.For more information, explore our open positions at our careers page. #J-18808-Ljbffr
