Are you a BI Solutions Designer with hands-on expertise in Power BI, SSIS, and Cognos? Our client seeks a Solutions Designer to lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable business intelligence and data integration solutions. This role will support the modernization of data services, providing robust reporting and analytics capabilities across multiple platforms and business units.

This position is ideal for someone with strong experience in ETL development, reporting solutions, and data transformation who thrives in a hybrid work environment and values collaboration with business stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  1. Works in partnership with clients, advising them on information technology in order to meet their business objectives or overcome problems, works to improve structure and efficiency of an organization's I&IT systems.
  2. Provides subject matter expertise in their field and highly expert technical assistance.
  3. Acts as the technical advisor/expert on all aspects of a specific deliverable.
  4. Anticipates and resolves problems to ensure that the deliverables are completed within budget, to the highest quality, meeting or exceeding expectations.
  5. Develops processes and procedures for implementing deliverables.
  6. Prepares work plan, effort estimates, reports and presentations including options and recommendations, etc.
  7. Works with clients to determine the technical scope of the project and to determine requirements.
  8. Defines software, hardware and network requirements.
  9. Analyze I&IT requirements, giving independent and objective advice on the use of I&IT.
  10. Designs, tests, installs and monitors new systems and develops solutions and implementation of new systems.
  11. Ensure seamless integration of new and existing systems, applications, and platforms.
  12. Evaluate and recommend technology stacks, platforms, and tools to support business goals.
  13. Design systems with a focus on security, compliance, and data privacy standards.
  14. Work closely with stakeholders such as business units, development teams, and IT infrastructure teams to ensure alignment with project goals.
  15. Ensure solutions are scalable, reliable, and can be optimized for future growth.
  16. Provide technical support and participate in the development, package creation, code merge, testing and release activities.
  17. Primary interface between technical teams (Dev, QA) and business stakeholders, focusing on requirements clarification and UAT.
  18. Develop and manage solutions using Power BI, Cognos, Oracle, MS-SQL, Visual Studio, SSIS, Attunity, ODAC, .NET framework, GIT and SQL-based reporting tools.
  19. Prepares and advises on business analysis policies, processes, best practices and standards to promote a comprehensive and consistent business analysis practice within the organization.
Qualifications

Must Haves:

  1. Strong experience in developing reports and dashboards in Power BI.
  2. Solid experience in designing, developing, and deploying SSIS packages for ETL processes.
  3. Solid knowledge of MS SQL Server, including T-SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization.
  4. Familiar with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) from various sources to target systems.
  5. Strong product experience such as Power BI, Cognos, Oracle, MS-SQL, Visual Studio, SSIS, Attunity, ODAC, .NET framework, GIT and SQL-based reporting tools.

The ideal candidate should possess 10+ years of experience as a Solution Designer & Developer, with a focus on the following project environments:

  1. 5-7 years: Power BI, MS SQL Server, SSIS, Informatica ETL, Cognos Development, Data Migration & Transformation.
  2. 2-4 years: Oracle, Visual Studio, .NET Framework, Java, Cloud Services, Data Warehousing, Advanced Data Analytics, Version Control.

Desirable Skills:

  1. Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices.
  2. Ability to translate business and data requirements into specifications sufficient for designing appropriate technology solutions.
  3. Experience with a wide range of methods, tools and techniques for business analysis, such as business functional modelling, business event modelling, and business process mapping.
  4. Experience in structured, object-oriented and agile methodologies for user requirements.
  5. Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards.
  6. Provides a comprehensive range of I&IT business analysis services for clients with diverse business and technological needs.
  7. Experience in the use of Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools to document conceptual requirements and scope.
  8. Awareness of emerging I&IT trends and technologies.
  9. Prepares and advises on business analysis policies, processes, best practices and standards to promote a comprehensive and consistent business analysis practice within the organization.
