As a Speech-Language Pathologist (Full-Time, Location: Sudbury, Espanola, Manitoulin Island or Elliot Lake), you are responsible for the provision of speech-language pathology services to Ontario Health at Home patients to address and improve communication and/or swallowing disorders.

Whether you work in our office, in the community, or a health care facility – you will play a lead role in providing connected, accessible, patient-centered care – and be supported by our collaborative team that includes over 9,000 regulated health care and other professionals.

  1. Respond to patient referrals from Care Coordinators to properly administer speech-language pathology services.
  2. Assess patient communication and/or swallowing abilities, using a variety of standardized and non-standardized assessment tools, to determine their treatment needs and therapy goals.
  3. Develop and implement treatment programs and/or compensatory strategies/techniques to address established therapy goals as they relate to communication, language skills, and/or swallowing function.
  4. Oversee patients’ progress and adjust treatment programs when needed, to ensure therapy goals are met.
    • Registered Speech-Language Pathologist in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).
    • In-depth knowledge of speech-language pathology services and other community resources, treatment centers, and organizations.
    • Good understanding of the roles of other health care professionals.
    • Relevant speech-language pathology experience in a community/health care environment.
    • Comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of speech-language pathology tools, processes, equipment, and assistive technology.
    • Practical knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. regarding the provision of health care services, privacy, health, and safety, etc.).
    • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work with diverse patient groups, Care Coordinators, family members/caregivers/Substitute Decision Makers, health care professionals, community organizations and service providers.
    • Working knowledge of computer software (email, internet) and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel).
    • Must have valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle as regular travel to the Espanola/Manitoulin Island, Elliot Lake region will be required.
    • Advanced oral and written proficiency in English essential.
