IT Security Officer (Artificial Intelligence) Direct message the job poster from LeverageTek Staffing Solutions Recruitment Specialist at LeverageTek Staffing Solutions Job Description LeverageTek is actively seeking a Cyber Security Officer for a 12-month term with its Ottawa-based customer Work Location Hybrid Ottawa (Open to remote in the GTA) Key Tasks Oversee and improve information security practices across technologies and processes, including on-premises, cloud (Microsoft 365, Azure), and SaaS/COTS environments. Conduct vulnerability assessments, security audits, and ongoing information risk assessments; monitor network and systems to detect security irregularities. Lead AI security governance initiatives, assessing risks associated with AI systems (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) and embedding responsible AI practices into business operations. Recommend, implement, and continuously enhance network and security infrastructure, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security tools approved through internal governance. Develop, maintain, and communicate IT security policies, standards, and guidelines aligned with organizational strategy and risk tolerance. Support technical documentation and reporting for leadership and governance groups. Collaborate with stakeholders across business and IT teams to integrate security into organizational strategies. Provide guidance on ethical, secure, and compliant use of AI and emerging technologies within the organization. Key Qualifications 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, including AI security governance, vulnerability assessments, security audits, and management of information security systems across cloud and on-premises environments. Strong understanding of AI platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) and cloud technologies (Microsoft 365, Azure), with experience embedding responsible and secure AI practices into business operations. Proven ability to assess business risks, recommend and implement security measures, and collaborate with stakeholders across IT and business teams. Qualifications College diploma or certificate in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, or a related field. Familiarity with technical documentation, software tools (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases), and cybersecurity monitoring tools. Proven ability to assess business risks and recommend appropriate information security measures. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders across multiple disciplines. Client-focused, innovative, and able to work effectively in a team environment. Assets Experience with AI security governance frameworks and controls. Exposure to hybrid IT environments and multi-technology ecosystems. Knowledge of SaaS/COTS security integration and enterprise-grade vendor solutions. Experience in government, military, or public sector IT environments. CISSP or equivalent security certification is an asset. Functional English or French; bilingualism is an asset.
