Research Officer - Preclinical Research Officer - Preclinical at TRIUMF. Overview TRIUMF is Canada’s particle accelerator centre, a publicly funded, not-for-profit research lab that is a hub for discovery and innovation. The Life Sciences Division is expanding radiopharmaceutical development and the Research Officer will conduct research, train students and visitors, and manage the high-level radiobiology laboratory. Responsibilities Conduct or support research priorities set by TRIUMF Life Sciences Division, especially the NFRF Transformation grant for radioisotope production and radiometal chelator development. Deliver grant milestones, including preclinical evaluation, publication and presentation of results. Manage the radiobiology laboratory, maintain regulatory compliance for the high-level radioactive lab and act as the biosafety officer. Write and review hazardous analysis safety reports. Ensure the operation of equipment in the radiobiology and radiochemistry labs. Assist HQPs in the Life Sciences Division on their research projects. Train new and existing radiobiology lab experimenters. Plan and coordinate animal studies for different projects. Foster collaboration with internal and external communities. Represent projects at conferences and publish peer‑reviewed literature. Present findings to internal and external teams and industry collaborators. Qualifications Ph.D. in radiopharmaceutical development, radiochemistry, biochemistry or related field. ~8 years of professional experience, including 3+ years post‑graduate in therapeutic radiopharmaceutical development with alpha emitters. Hands‑on experience in radiochemistry, radiobiology or radiopharmaceuticals. Track record in managing compliance with radioactive lab regulations, biosafety regulations and CNSC/PHAC regulations. Excellent scientific communication skills, both verbal and written. Experience managing research labs and training lab users. Strong chemistry and biology laboratory skills for preclinical studies. Experience managing large collaborative research projects is strongly desired. Minimum Qualifications and Years of Experience A Ph.D. in radiopharmaceutical development, radiochemistry, biochemistry or a related scientific field. Typically has 8 years of professional experience, or equivalent. Hands‑on experience in radiochemistry, radiobiology, or radiopharmaceuticals. At least 3 years of post‑graduate experience in therapeutic radiopharmaceutical development with alpha‑emitters, strong chemistry and biology lab skills, and experience in preclinical studies. Experience in managing compliance with radioactive lab regulations and biosafety regulations. Track record of excellence in scientific communication. Experience in managing research labs and training lab users. Track record of managing large collaborative research projects. Compensation Annual salary of $111,775.00 CAD plus a comprehensive benefits plan.
