Key Accountabilities CUSTOMER Develop communication, interpretation, application, and implementation of actuarial analysis and results for the business. Monitor trends of profit and profitability by line of business and product, ensuring business leaders are aware of emerging issues. Recommend policies to assist with financial implications, complete financial projections, and perform actuarial analysis. Review analyses of corporate claim and premium liabilities; develop procedures to manage data and product changes. Ensure availability and quality of data used for actuarial analysis, based on thorough knowledge of data systems. Develop reports for monitoring the insurance portfolio, observing movements in business mix and measuring current/prospective profitability. SHAREHOLDER Develop and enhance functional procedures, including review for actuarial soundness. Maintain controls, policies, and procedures for the actuarial function. Support implementation of best practices, risk mitigation, and risk controls. Assist with organizational financial structure, complete projections, and perform actuari­al analysis. Adhere to enterprise frameworks or methodologies relevant to activities. Ensure programs, policies, and practices are well managed, meet business needs, and comply with internal and external requirements. Ensure compliance with applicable internal and external requirements (e.g., financial controls, segregation of duties). Participate as a subject‑matter expert in cross‑functional initiatives, identifying risks and providing guidance. Conduct internal and external research projects; support development and delivery of presentations to management or wider audiences. Lead or facilitate remediation plans to address performance, risk, or governance issues. Manage relationships within and across business lines, corporate functions, and control functions, ensuring alignment. Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and regulatory requirements; assess potential impacts. Maintain a culture of risk management and control, aligned with risk appetite. Monitor service, productivity, and efficiency, implementing continuous process improvements where opportunities exist. EMPLOYEE / TEAM Participate fully as a team member, promoting a positive work environment that ensures timely communication of issues. Provide thought leadership and industry knowledge, participating in knowledge transfer. Stay current on emerging trends and grow knowledge of business and related tools. Offer guidance on day‑to‑day professional work for other analysts. Engage in personal performance management and cross‑training activities. May supervise other members, providing day‑to‑day work direction when appropriate. Keep others informed about project status and progress. Contribute to skill development through mentorship and best practices. Lead, motivate, and develop relationships with internal and external partners. Contribute to a fair, positive, and equitable environment supporting a diverse workforce. Act as a brand ambassador for your business area/function and TD. BREADTH & DEPTH Act as top technical lead, supporting and sharing expert knowledge. Understand industry, competition, and differentiating factors. Highly seasoned professional with extensive knowledge of actuarial principles and multiple insurance lines/products. Integrate knowledge of enterprise strategy in developing solutions across functions. Serve as technical expert, integrating cross‑function understanding and managing specialist teams. Lead cross‑functional teams or projects with significant resources, risk, or complexity. Use sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify solutions. Communicate complex concepts in compelling business context; influence senior stakeholders. Work autonomously as a lead, guiding others within area of expertise. Report generally to a Senior Manager or executive role. Experience & Education University degree. 8+ years of related experience. Generally a fully qualified Fellow.
