Job Description:

Reporting to the Southwest EMS Operations Manager the Emergency Medical Technician - Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) is responsible for responding to emergent and non-emergent EMS calls for service; and for providing initial assessment, treatment, stabilization and transport of ill or injured persons at the Basic Life Support level. The PCP will provide care with strict adherence to: Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) core values, policies, and work standards; Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP) Paramedic Clinical Practice Protocols; The Paramedics Act and SCoP Regulatory and Administrative Bylaws; and The Saskatchewan Ambulance Act and Regulations.

Education Primary Care Paramedic diploma (PCP) Licenses Registered Emergency Medical Technician/Primary Care Paramedic (EMT/PCP) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR) International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS) Valid Class 4 driver's license Automated External Defibrillator Certificate (AED) Competencies Advanced - Listening skills Advanced - Interpersonal skills Intermediate - Conflict resolution skills Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of EMS Practitioners legislation/protocols/scope of practice Decision making through the application of clinical, legal & ethical practice Familiar with the SK Ministry of Health Ambulance Information System. Ability to function effectively in high stress and in emergency situations Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team Ability to work independently Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
