Richmond is a diverse ‘young’ city thriving with families in all stages of life. The Richmond Child and Youth Program is located in a community clinic within walking distance to Richmond Hospital. The Richmond Step Up Step Down Program is a community-based public mental health service for children under 19 years of age with significant emotional and/or behavioural problems who present to the hospital (ED or PEU) or who are potentially requiring hospitalization from community. Assessments and evidence-informed treatments are provided to children in conjunction with their families. Acute care is offered with a goal to ensure transition back into the community and connection with Child and Youth Programs is facilitated or to prevent hospitalization.
