Temporary Phys. Ed. Specialist Position

0.5 FTE Position for the 2024-2025 School Year

We are seeking a dedicated and versatile Physical Education Specialist Teacher for students from Kindergarten to Grade 6. The ideal candidate for this position is positive, enthusiastic, reflective, collaborative, and creative. The ability to support diverse instructional and learning needs for students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 is required. An interest or background in the Arts would be considered an asset.

Dr. Ken Sauer School offers Kindergarten through Grade 6 to approximately 300 students. Our school’s vision is “To inquire. To create. To build an inclusive community”. Our staff is committed to Inclusion, Inquiry, Integration, and Cooperative Learning as important elements in our program. We will be working as a staff during the 2024-2025 school year to explore Arts-Centered Learning and Fine Arts Education. Applicants should have a passion for physical activity and experience managing an active learning environment. This individual will be required to effectively plan and execute an excellent Physical Education program for multiple groupings and varied ages of students along with the support of an Educational Assistant. This position will also require the successful candidate to be a flexible, accommodating, and positive partner in the gym and in classrooms. Excellent classroom management skills are essential to this position; our school promotes active engagement of students within a calm and safe learning environment. A belief in restorative practice is important. The ideal candidate can translate curriculum outcomes into meaningful and engaging learning activities. Applicants should have a strong understanding of cross-curricular instruction and an enthusiasm for finding connections between subject areas. Understanding outcomes-based assessment and reporting is essential.
