Organization: Mercor Position: Physics/Biology/Chemistry/Engineering/Astronomy Competition Problem Writers, Medalists, Participants, & Affiliates Referral Partner: Crossing Hurdles Type: Hourly contract Compensation: $70-$90/hr Location: Remote Duration: Short-term (with potential for extension based on performance) Role Responsibilities Write original, advanced Olympiad-style problems in your area of expertise (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or Astronomy). Evaluate AI-generated solutions for correctness, clarity, and reasoning depth. Identify conceptual gaps, logical flaws, or scientifically invalid assumptions. Provide clear, step-by-step analytical or experimental solutions using proper LaTeX formatting. Maintain rigorous scientific standards and Olympiad-level problem difficulty across all tasks. Requirements Experience as an Olympiad medallist, problem setter, coach, or selection committee member in competitions like IPhO, IChO, IBO, IOAA, IESO, or equivalent national competitions. Or experience as a graduate researcher or educator with expertise in designing advanced conceptual or quantitative problems in the sciences. Deep understanding of your domain’s core theoretical and experimental concepts. Ability to articulate reasoning and derivations clearly in written form. Strong proficiency in LaTeX and analytical presentation. Independent, precise, and disciplined work style.
