Join the ride Position : Senior Manager - Indirect TaxLocation: Remote PositionClassification: Full-Time, Immediate Hire Job overview This role is responsible for managing GST/HST, QST, provincial sales taxes (PST), luxury taxes, excise taxes, and other indirect taxes levied by the provincial and federal governments in Canada as well as sales/use tax in the US, with a combined focus on strategic leadership and hands‑on execution. What the job is all about: Indirect Tax Compliance & Reporting Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of indirect tax returns (VAT, GST, sales/use tax) across multiple jurisdictions. Ensure timely submissions and payments in line with local requirements. Maintain an accurate tax calendar and manage indirect tax registrations. Tax Advisory Support Provide practical, business‑aligned advice on indirect tax implications of North America sales, digital services, product launches, intercompany arrangements, and supply chain design. Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Finance, Legal, Sales Ops and Procurement support teams) to ensure tax‑compliant business operations and scalable solutions. Researching and preparing technical positions for complicated indirect tax matters. Drafting written communications to stakeholders, including memoranda, opinion letters and reports. Team Leadership & Collaboration Lead, mentor, and support branch accountants on indirect tax compliance and reporting. Present and train branch accountants on administrative and legislative updates. Support team growth and contribute to recruitment, onboarding, and training where applicable. Systems, Process, and Automation Provide guidance to IT stakeholders regarding indirect tax settings and matrix. Drive automation of compliance processes, including data gathering, reconciliation, and return preparation. Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and audit readiness. Audit & Risk Management Manage indirect tax audits and authority queries. Ensure documentation and data retention policies are met for audit readiness. Proactively identify and mitigate indirect tax risks through strong controls and oversight. What You Bring To The Role 7+ years of experience in indirect tax roles with a mix of hands‑on compliance and strategic oversight. Canadian CPA designation. Highly self‑motivated individual with a strong desire to specialize in Indirect Tax. Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills. Excellent research and analytical skills with the ability to effectively apply tax knowledge to business situations. Ability to effectively manage conflicting demands and priorities. Strong Excel and data analysis skills; experience with automation tools is a plus. High level of drive, enthusiasm and a positive attitude. The Perks.
