Assistant Professor – Nuclear Engineering The Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry in the Faculty of Science & Engineering at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full‑time tenure‑stream position in Nuclear Engineering. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, tenure stream with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. Qualifications Earned a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field by the time of appointment. Hold a baccalaureate degree in Chemical Engineering or an equivalent discipline. Demonstrate a record of excellence in both research and teaching. Possess a Professional Engineer registration in Ontario. Have research interests that complement and enhance our departmental strengths in modern nuclear reactor design (fission, fusion, and small modular reactors), transport phenomena, thermal hydraulics, molten salt chemistry, thermodynamics, nuclear chemistry, AI‑assisted modeling, nuclear safety and waste management, and hybrid nuclear‑renewable systems. Provide evidence of research excellence through publications in top‑ranked or field‑relevant journals, forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements from referees. Responsibilities The successful candidate will pursue innovative and independent research, establish an outstanding, externally funded research program, and teach in the chemical engineering curriculum at the undergraduate and post‑graduate level. Collaborative and interdisciplinary research and collegial interaction will be important elements in success. Compensation Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
