You’ll be responsible for server and network administration, security hardening, backups, and disaster recovery, while collaborating with the engineering team to keep systems reliable and secure.ResponsibilitiesCloud Resource Management: Provision, monitor, and scale EC2, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, CloudFront, etc.Maintain uptime using CloudWatch alarms, Auto Scaling Groups, and Health ChecksSupport deployment and configuration of core infrastructure componentsSecurity OperationsManage IAM roles, policies, and SCPs (via AWS Organizations)Implement security best practices: MFA for admin users, principle of least privilege, secrets managementSet up and monitor AWS WAF, Shield, GuardDuty, and MacieCoordinate vulnerability patching and regular security reviewsNetworking & DNSConfigure VPC subnets, routing, NAT gateways, and internet gatewaysMonitor latency and optimize routing using Route 53 strategiesTroubleshoot and maintain ALB/NLB load balancersUser Identity & Permissions ManagementMaintain AWS IAM Identity CenterSet up cross-account role assumptions for developers and adminsBackup & Disaster RecoveryConfigure and automate backups for RDS, DynamoDB, and S3 (including versioning and replication)Ensure and test disaster recovery plans, including regional failoverDocument and maintain RPO/RTO metricsCompliance & LoggingMaintain audit logs via CloudTrail, AWS Config, and centralized logging systemsSupport compliance initiatives, including encryption and data retention policiesDocumentationMaintain architecture diagrams and infrastructure documentationCreate and update runbooks for incident response, failovers, and security eventsQualificationsProven experience with AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, etc.)Strong knowledge of cloud security best practices and AWS security toolsSolid understanding of VPC, routing, subnets, DNS, and load balancingExperience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning in AWSKnowledge of compliance requirements and logging best practicesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational, time-management, and prioritization abilitiesSelf-motivated, able to work independently and support mission-critical systemsPreferred QualificationsBS degree in Computer Science or related fieldExperience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormationAWS Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator CertificationBenefitsPaid Adventure Time – Take an all-expenses-paid remote working trip for 3 weeks to a destination of your choice with one of our remote work-trip partners.
