Application Information Employer Name:North West Friendship Centre The Mental Health Wellness Coordinator will be responsible for providing culturally sensitive and trauma-informed mental health services to individuals, families, and groups within the community. The therapist will play a crucial role in establishing mental health support services, creating treatment plans, and offering independent therapy sessions. The coordinator will also be a key resource in connecting clients with external mental health services and resources, focusing on the unique needs of Indigenous populations. This position requires a high degree of self-motivation and the ability to work autonomously. Duties and Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations to determine clients' mental health needs, ensuring a culturally safe and inclusive environment. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that incorporate both conventional and traditional healing practices, as appropriate. Provide individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing culturally competent approaches to support the unique needs of urban Indigenous clients. Offer access to traditional healers and elders, facilitating opportunities for clients to receive guidance, participate in ceremonies, and engage in traditional healing practices. Plan and conduct workshops on various topics, such as stress management, substance misuse, and healthy lifestyle choices, to empower clients to navigate their mental health journeys with confidence and resilience. Requirements Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field is preferred. However, candidates with a certificate or diploma in mental health or a related discipline may be considered if they have relevant experience and demonstrate strong competency in providing mental health services.
