Primary Responsibilities:

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director and as a member of the Communications, Political Action and Campaigns (CPAC) Section, the CPAC Project Management Officer is responsible for the development and implementation of CPAC related projects and coordinating the project-related activities of a diverse implementation team consisting of external consultants, CPAC staff and internal stakeholders.

The CPAC Project Management Officer supports resourcing and scheduling, building tools and systems to understand forward-looking capacity, identifying capacity crunches, working with team leads to assign project work, and visualizing and communicating the narrative of overall section workload to CPAC staff and management.

What you will bring to the table:Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in project management or a relevant discipline or a combination of education and experience in project management and structured systems analysis techniques and systems development life cycle methodologies.
  • A minimum five (5) years demonstrated working experience in structured systems analysis and design, and project management.
  • Project Management certification would be an asset.
  • Experience working in resourcing or project management software tools.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge and commitment of trade union and equity principles, and understanding of the sensitive political and social issues.
Abilities
  • Proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve systems issues in order to maximize the benefit of PM systems investments.
  • Proven ability to analyze and understand the functionality of existing database applications is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive and technically sound advice to management, project lead users and staff in specific technical and project management process areas.
  • Proven ability in developing action plans and making presentations of plans and reports to management is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability in creating systems including requirements definitions, flow charts, Gantt charts, data flow diagrams and training documents is required.
  • Ability to install, evaluate and implement into production various vendors supplied packages is required.
  • Ability to effectively schedule tasks and assignments, deal with competing priorities and remain effective during pressure situations.
  • Ability to accept responsibility and work effectively without close supervision in a methodical and efficient manner, and cooperatively with others in a team.
  • Ability to understand and respond strategically and tactically to operational issues with innovative solutions.
  • Ability to analyze, assess and make recommendations on various informatics related proposals.
  • Ability to demonstrate good client service through commitment to customer service.

  • Proven track record of taking responsibility and ownership surrounding work activities, and ability to demonstrate good time management.
  • Commitment to continuous quality / process improvement.
  • The position requires excellent judgment and demonstrated problem solving, consultative, persuasive and conflict resolution skills to provide sound direction and advice on a variety of complex technology issues to all levels of users and/or technical and Help Desk staff.
  • Subject to operational requirements, this position may be required to work regular late hour shifts that end between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
