Communications & Community Engagement - Videographer - Summer Student

Reporting to the Manager, Brand & Communications, Silvera's videographer will use his or her skills in videography, video editing, photography and storytelling to capture photos, videos and stories that will help Silvera spread the word about its housing options for Calgary seniors. This role involves both strategic thinking and tactical execution to produce multimedia content for communications and marketing. This position offers the opportunity to find meaningful work with seniors while helping Silvera achieve its business objectives and build a consistent brand and reputation. This role will appeal to anyone who loves making videos and telling stories.
Hours of Work
37.5 hours per week
Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4 pm
Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends
Timeframe:
From May 15, 2024 to August 31, 2024
Responsibilities
- Create interesting and insightful videos about Silvera’s residents and cinematic videos about Silvera’s buildings. These videos will be used on our website, intranet and social media platforms.
- Collaborate with other Silvera employees and residents to shoot and edit video content using industry-standard equipment and software. You are welcome to use your own equipment or equipment supplied by Silvera.
- Manage all aspects of video production, from planning to delivery.
- Capture photos that help spread the word about Silvera’s housing options for seniors.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of photoshoots and video shoots, including coming up with story ideas and coordinating with the subjects.
- Collaborate with the external relations team to ensure all communications are consistent with organizational branding and communications/marketing objectives.
- Support targeted communications/marketing campaigns across social media and other identified channels.
- Act as an ambassador of Silvera within and beyond the organization.
- · Adhere to deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Qualifications
- Experience with lighting, audio and video equipment
- Able to provide examples of completed video production and storytelling
- Experience with video editing
- Experience creating content for social media
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems, work independently and think strategically
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Team-oriented
- Positive attitude
- Must have a driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
- Drone experience would be an asset
Eligibility
This position is partially funded by a Canada Summer Jobs grant. As such, all applicants must meet the following criteria:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada
