Our client, a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto, is looking for a Quality Engineering Manager to be responsible for developing and implementing quality standards, tools, and methods to ensure the effectiveness of testing and identification of defects. br/>
Typical Day in Role:
  • Oversee integration, E2E, and user acceptance testing efforts, and foster a culture of quality across the organization.
  • Manage, lead, and co-ordinate E2E for a large program.
  • Understand business/technical requirements for a Large Capital Market program to design the testing artefacts.
  • Develop a robust test strategy, lead, plan, develop, and execute all phases of testing for a large program.
  • Manage and coordinate across all program test streams and cross-work streams in the front office, middle office, and back office.
  • Follow defined processes and tools, aligning with the overall Quality Engineering (QE) strategy and framework.
  • Lead, plan, develop, and execute all the testing activities for the Large Program.
  • Support integrated plan for a Large Program to BCS to Risk and Finance.
  • Manage & coordinate across all Large Program test streams (Rates FO, Quants, Rates IT) and any cross-work stream test dependencies outside FO.
  • Lead, review, and contribute to the key testing deliverables such as testing coverage, test design, test execution, etc.
  • Define, lead, execute automation opportunities for Large Program.
  • Define, lead, execute, and support integrated plan from Large Program to BCS to Risk and Finance.
  • Defect management from creation, triage to closure using best practices.
  • Define environment and support requirements for all testing activities; verify execution of these requirements.
  • Review, prepare, and present testing activity status and execution results to stakeholders.
  • Facilitate escalation, prioritization, and resolution of defects raised during testing activities.
  • Evaluate and review testing deliverables and processes, providing status reporting to the quality engineering director with actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with senior management to resolve issues, action items in a timely manner as needed.
  • Assist in planning and estimation of QE support for new programs and projects, helping to establish universally applied quality standards and recommending quality improvements.
  • Monitor adherence to quality standards in the program and implementation of production applications. Monitoring the effectiveness of the assurance process.
  • Assist in planning and estimation of Quality Assurance support for new programs and projects.

Must-Have Skills:

  • Large program leading experience from QA.
  • Automation – hands-on.
  • 10+ years of QE experience with hands-on and management roles, of which 5 years in a lead role.
  • 5+ years experience in Capital Market, Regulatory projects, financial institutes, or related field required.
  • Strong ability to develop comprehensive test strategies and lead testing efforts across various phases.
  • Expert knowledge of Excel and other MS tools.
  • Experience using testing metrics, KPIs, and ROI, cost/value drivers in OE management. Strong technical skills including MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Understanding of quality assurance and quality control principles and practices.
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD/CV pipeline.
  • Experience in an automation framework development background.
  • Team Management.
  • Relationship building and working with senior stakeholders.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering.
